Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rocket League 'Absolutely' Coming to Additional Platforms, Says Dev

"What those platforms are and when we'll come to them, I don't know yet."

Vehicle sports game Rocket League is "absolutely, 100 percent" coming to additional platforms, according to developer Psyonix.

Following Rocket League's early success on PlayStation 4 and PC, Psyonix Vice President of Marketing and Communications Jeremy Dunham told Gamezone the developer is now "in a position" to expand. "We are absolutely, 100 percent going to other platforms. What those platforms are and when we'll come to them, I don't know yet," he added.

With only 8-12 people working on Rocket League throughout the majority of its development, Psyonix decided to focus on a limited number of platforms for the game's launch. "We wanted to make [sure] that it was very good, very polished, that everybody liked it, and the only way we could ensure that was to focus on two platforms," said Dunham. He added the studio didn't want to "port [Rocket League] to as many platforms as we possibly could just to try to maximize our profit."

Psyonix has already hired "a couple" more people since Rocket League was released last month, and hopes to add even more employees in the near future, allowing the team to work on development for other platforms.

As far as additional platforms go, Dunham says none of the current-gen consoles are off the table: "If the game can work on the platform and we can responsibly get that game working on a platform, we will never say never to any of the platforms that are current-gen. Anything is possible."

In related news, Psyonix recently revealed the first DLC pack for Rocket League.

Great. I'm sure they have now the financial resources to port it over. This is one of those games that should be on every platform.

8-12 people? Fantastic.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Being an avid reader of the forums I'd say X1 is more probable than PS3. Though they do of course have a big soft spot for the PS3, obviously.
WIIU is probably not even on the table.

I would hope Xbox would be an obvious choice. Maybe 360 and PS3 too?

Oh well, good for people on those platforms.

Wonder if they'll try keeping one big player pool or those other platforms will have to get their own pools.

NX version confirmed?
I am very happy that Psyonix managed to make a lot of money from the game, they deserve every penny.

Wouldn't count it out. Some indies do exceedingly well on WiiU - sometimes even better than on Steam or other platforms.

Given the specs for this game, I don't see why it couldn't come to every platform.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Great for gamers. I'm having a blast with it on PS4 and I'm sure tons of people will have on other systems too.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

As I said, I've been following this game long before it was finished and the devs are pretty open about everything. Ports were a frequent topic.

They're running it as a business so the most probable choice for now is X1 because they get begged for that every day and it shouldn't be hard to port over.

PS3 is their darling so if anything's after X1 it's PS3. My guess is that Wii U is probably even below Vita on their list. I have never seen either of the devs or the fans mentioning Nintendo devices in any way.
