Forums - Sony Discussion - Rumor: PlayStation Plus getting an increase in prices in Europe

Well, my PS+ is paid until January 2019 (bought a few years in advance, when they were below 35 €), so I'm good. ;)

The first year was even free: 3 months testing phase + 3 PSN/PS+ bundles (€18.99 per €20-PSN-card + 3 months PS+)

€30 - €35 on average per year for over 60 games per year (even if many of them are indies) + cloud saves + PSN discounts already is a pretty sweet deal for me, I couldn't care less if this additionally includes online gaming or not.

Absolute joke if true. PSN is an absolute nightmare, the IGC isn't nearly as good as it used to be and Sony wants to increase the price?! They can fuck off. We currently pay €50 which is $55.05, seems fair as fuck to me! How about we get some #BetterPSN Sony?

Sony is just maximizing profits and will likely use the Euro drop as an excuse.

Why not if you can get away with it? Any company would do so. Europe is Sonyland afterall.

Which is BS considering it is still worth more than the dollar. But lets not get ahead of ourselfes it's just a rumour on the internet.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I paid £22 for Xbox Live gold recently. Plus cost me about £35. Both 12 month codes.

It's high enough as it is and it already covers the cost of plus content and online services.

This won't go down well. If anything, they should offer a 2 year sub to give loyal customers a slight discount.

This is why its best to have sustainable competition in the console market!

european competion, MS will do the same thing for sure

This is what happens when one company dominates in a region.

pretty sad this is because the euro lost in value but actually it doesnt make sense the servers are hosted in europe and paid in euro

It has nothing to do with the euro. It has to do with marketshare and lack of competition. If they do this, it'll be because they can.

Hard to blame the domination part when the competition is already selling their "get online plus some other goodies"-service for 10€ more.

Then you didn't get the service for online multiplayer and aren't among the people I'm talking about. If this service and Xbox Live Gold was only about the deals and the free games then I wouldn't have a problem with them. I was more talking about the people that kept praising and celebrating Xbox Live Gold in the beginning of Gen 7 anyway.

Honestly, the whole paying to play online thing has always bugged me. I was paying for PS+ when all it did was give me free games and discounts and I was OK with that. Hell, then I would have felt stupid for not paying for it considering the amount of great free games they offered (vanquish, deus ex and infamous 2 were enough to justify yearly subscriptions).

But when they put online play behind the wall, it rubbed me the wrong way. Simply cause we are paying for something that is already free in multiple ways. we pay for our internet, the console, the game then "have" to pay to play the full game. That's just wrong. Its not a lot of money, but its still really bad form. I would understand if it meant every PS game were on dedicated servers from Sony but thats not the case.  I can understand put share play or maybe even live streaming behind a pay wall but online gaming shouldn't be.

But hey, we have MS and the fools that praised MS for XBL gold to thank for this. When Sony realizes they can get away with potentially making a billion from subscription fees alone in a year its hard to argue with their choices.

Honestly I don't even blame MS, they are a company out to make money, how can I blame them for trying to use this to make said money? I blame the consumers who not only bought into it but also praised and celebrated the whole thing (and that includes gaming "journalists" even).
