Well... There is Star Wars this year and then the new avatar movies after that which COULD do it...

Nah, neither will. Avatar has no hype for it and Star Wars isn't as big as it used to be.

Eh, if Jurassic World has taught me anything, it is don't underestimate the power of old mega-franchises.

Now I have to go watch dis movie :O

Expected Terminator to do better but I guess that fizzled :(

You expected Terminator to earn more than $1.5b?

In terms of ticket admissions though, meaning actual people who watched it in the cinemas,  NOTHING can surpass Titanic's unreal numbers.

Anyway congrats to JW! It deserves every cent. Personally, no movie this year so far can compare to the FUN I've experienced watching JW. Next stop is TA's domestic gross which is pretty much toast after this week, then Age of Ultron's international gross which is also toast once JW opens in Japan or even before it.

Except the record of total ticket admissions has never belonged to Titanic. That belongs to Gone With the Wind, which released in 1939.

I've never been a big fan of the Jurassic Park franchise. I feel as if the whole series is overhyped.

Also does anyone else feel as if too many movies are making over a billion bucks nowadays?

Oh yeah forgot about that. But I guess you can still consider Titanic up there since no new movie has performed even close to those kinds of numbers anymore.

Due to nostalgia and the fact that Schwarzenegger is in it compared to the previous Terminator movie.

I don't see it performing well even if T:G was actually good. Terminator just isn't that popular of a franchise.

200 million tickets sold across all releases in US and Canada alone according to Wikipedia Another 35 million just from UK xD

I think it'll make a cool $1.5B but not outgross Titanic.

Universal has done a lot better this year than I thought possible. Two films over 1.5 billion in one year is crazy.

Bets:

1. If the Wii U sells closer to 10 million LTD by 1/3/2015 I win. If it sells closer to 9.5 million LTD by 1/3/2015 OfficerRaichu15 wins (winner gets 2 weeks of avatar control)--Lost.
