Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will the next CEO of Nintendo make powerful consoles to their fullest? Since Iwata has passed away?

Okay we all know Nintendo has always had that "Powerful consoles don't make good consoles" spirit yata yata. Was Iwata behind that slogan?... Since he was CEO of Nintendo, he made the Wii, DS, 3DS and Wii U not powerful as their competition. Do you think now that Iwata has passed away (I'm not against him, I'm saddened too)   Nintendo will produce morepowerful consoles like their compeitiors? I'm curious, and this could change everything for Nintendo... Maybe the next CEO will have that desire to make their consoles very powerful...

I hope the next CEO has NIntendo and it's legacy in it's best interest. Nintendo is innovating and FUN!!! They have to stick to what they know. That's all I want them to do.

The next details for the next Nintendo console are probably already decided, at least for the most part. How that turns out might determine a lot of Nintendo's future direction.

You also have to figure that many of Iwata's generation are still in positions of power. It's quite possible that the culture at Nintendo won't change all that much. Nintendo is very Japanese, which often translates to an emphasis on tradition.

If change in that regard came, it wouldn't be for almost a decade from now

Honestly, the NX is an Iwata-built machine, so even if the new president has a completely different console philosophy than him, we won't see any tangible results of that for a long time.

Not that it matters. I'm 100% sure that Iwata already hand picked his successor, just like Yamauchi before him. For better or worse. It will be interesting to say the least. I just hope it's someone who is iwata's age when he became president. Someone in their low 40's or even younger.

Will simply repost my comment from another thread.

Those hoping for a big shake-up at the top that results in significant changes to Nintendo's M.O. are going to be disappointed. They will appoint someone who believes in Iwata's vision for the industry, and embrace that vision whole-heartedly.

Basically this and honestly I don't mind. His vision is what gave me all these years of fun.
