I'm a PS4 fan, and I didn't watch the Sony presentation live. But I did see Microsoft presentation because it was during the day. The Sony presentation was late around 8 or 9 pm ET (I think, I don't remember) and I didn't watch because I was out with friend for after-work drinks. I'm assuming these video game conference viewers are most young male audience. For most people (if you had a life outside of video games), you have been finishing dinner or drinks around this time, and you wouldn't change your plans for a video game conference.

Clearly not hardcore enough, I had work at 8 the following morning but still watched it... Sony E3 always is pretty big and seeing the chat explode at the FF7:R announcement was worth staying up for.

I don't think something like views on Twitch should be a factor, but ok.

Haha.. That's hilarious. Peak viewership. Doesn't have to do with the fact that almost everyone outside the US was sleeping at Sony's time..not at all.

Now compare that with YouTube views.

That's nice. Even with the timezone difference, I would've thought Sony's would be more popular. I think the Sony youtube conference had more views though.

Of course, because viewership of the event clearly depends on announcement that people didn't know where going to be made in it. Jesus christ your comment didn't even make an ounce of sense.

Why would announcements we didn't know were coming affect live viewership? :p Regardless, i'm not sure i'd really consider those that watch E3 'the masses'. The huge response to stuff like Shenmue 3 was precisely because it wasn't the masses watching, but core gamers. I don't think the general consumer would take several hours out of their day to watch video games being announced live.
