In Japan only. Overall maybe, it depends whether the NA/EU sales growth compensates for the weaker japanese sales.

I don't expect any significant growth in NA/EU.

Dragon Quest has been around for quite a long time, always sold poorly and it wasn't a matter of supply: Several stores of all kinds (from Game to Carrefour or El Corte Inglés) in my city had to lower the price of Dragon Quest VIII to 9€ to get rid of their stock, and even then those copies still collected dust in bargain bins for over a year.

I have no real evidence for my backing,  but I see this being a far bigger release on the PS4 then previous entries were on the PS2. Same with Persona 5, will just have to wait and see though :)

Worst selling entry in the franchise since the PS1 days (wherever it ends) if true.

Also the console which gets it is saved in Japan.

Only 1 DQ quest outsold the PS1 and PS2 versions.... that was the 9th game, on the NDS.

All the rest where far below, what was sold on the PS1 & PS2.

PS4+NX

This would be the most rational thing to do IF it is indeed comming for more consoles.

There is absolutly no market for it on the Xone, and the power difference between the PS4 and WiiU is just to large.

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

French guy here. He doesn't use plural, no indication on exclusive or multiplat.

Do I see an incoming Sony's ambition is to make the PS4 home of JRPG quote?

I think it is safe to say that a Sony console has never not been the go to console for JRPGs. The catch is last GEN handhelds were the place to be for JRPGs.

Last gen really was a downer for console RPG's. There were a few good ones, but I can count the really good JRPG's for the PS3 on one hand with a few passable ones pushing it over to two hands. The 360 had a few decent ones too, but less so than the PS3. The PSP and DS each got a boatload of JRPG goodness though, and this generation the Vita seems to be the JRPG machine so far. Let's see if they make a home console comeback this generation.

FF VII remake. Nuff said : ).

But seriously. Last Gen the FPS genre sucked the life out of just about every other genre except WRPGs. The number 1 thing I love about this gen is that most of the most hyped games and best released games are not FPS.

I believe this is the single biggest reason (yes even over the pre-180 BS) that the XB1 has been blown away by the PS4. Xbox is FPS, FPS is Xbox. Last Gen FPS was king and Xbox rode the wave. FPS is still the single biggest genre, but it is not dominating like in the past. The relative demise of the FPS is tied to the relative demise of the XBox.

A few years ago, you made Dragon Quest Swords, a first-person Wii adventure game where use of the Wii Remote was very important. Does the age of virtual reality make you want to experiment with new concepts such as this?

Horii: “It’s amazing! I personally had the opportunity to try Project Morpheus, and it’s a very strange feeling. I really felt there was a girl next to me.

That must have been awkward, probably doesn't happen very often.
