Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Splatoon should have been hyped as a single player game....

... with a free multiplayer mode.  Why?  Because single player is friggin awesome!!!  Very creative and lots of fun.

It wouldn't surprise me if most consumers had no idea it had a single player segment. I know nothing about it and I hang out on a Nintendo-centric forum.

I've only played the first two islands of singleplayer, and it is pretty good. I would have preferred a bit more variety, other than essentially lots of small check-pointed areas, but it is a nice addition to the multiplayer.

I agree, at first i liked the multiplayer more, but that has changed, singleplayer i found actually more enjoyable, multiplayer i just get so frustrated :P

Don't think so, multiplayer is the game's focus, so if you have no interest in that, you probably shouldn't buy the game. Singleplayer is good but only last a couple of hours.

I'm pretty far into the mode and it kinda reminds me of Mario Galaxy mixed with Mario Sunshine mixed with crazy. A little more variety and polish and it would be spectacular.

I just finished the singleplayer. WOW, the final boss is one of the most amazing fights ever. Thank you for this experience Nintendo.

Splatoon is the very first game that I haven't completed the single player game before starting to play online. I think I've done the first three levels but I keep on going back to the online again and again. It's as addictive as crack cocaine lol

Yeah, multi is great.  Not the best I've played but it's pretty unique and addictive.  It just doesn't seem complete, though.  And, like a lot of games, when the multiplayer eventually and inevitably dies, what do you have left?  They could have better up the single player and, like GoldenEye, the multi could have had a life of its own.

That's hard to believe considering the lack of modes Splatoon have overall (so far anyway)

OT: Nintendo should have hyped the single player as well but since they only completed 10% of the game at last E3, they probably didn't have enough time to build up that hype and just stuck with marketing the multiplayer. They should probably market both now since people seem to enjoy the single player a lot.
