I wonder how many Xbox's sold this December since Xbox One S is 200 and Xbox One X is 400 while Sony didn't price cut there consoles Ps4 slim still 300 and Ps4 Pro at 400

Actually the PS4 slim 1tb Spiderman bundle is currently only 200 also.  It will probably stay at that price for a while since the latest Playstation ads mention that it now starts at 200 dollars.

Around the Network

I finally bought a Xbox One X. 330 euros from Amazon France.

My brother bought a Switch so he gave his WiiU to my son for Christmas. Been playing Mario 3D World & Mario Kart 8 with him and damnit I can't understand how these games are so popular. They look awful & gameplay isn't good enough to make up for it. I also got BotW so I'll check that out later. But right now I'm convinced Nintendo is some weird religion or something.

Some of you are probably playing Nintendo games too, what makes them so good?

You have to be kidding me lol, Mariokart 8 is the best kart racer of all time, IMO, and the driving model is just perfect. I think the graphics are just fine too (maybe its because I'm playing on Switch, which up-rezes the game to 1080p)

3D World I kinda agree on. I really disliked that they went for the "2d mario, but in 3d" style, with a focus on co-op to try to reach to that casual New Super Mario Bros Wii crowd. Very overrated. Galaxy and Odyssey are far better, and I would say that even Sunshine is better.

Though Smash takes the cake as their most overrated franchise though. It feels simply HORRIBLE to play, full stop. I'm not a huge fighting games, but I've tried quite a few fighting games with my friends over the years, and something like, say, Mortal Kombat X feels leaps and bounds better to play.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild is my game of the generation, so there's that at least. I'm amazed at how they mastered the open world genre with just their first swing. It's really a game that graces us once every decade or so. Mario Odyssey would be in the top 5 list too.

I' a huge fan of the Pokemon series too, ever since I started out with Platinum.

I like Nintendo games for their sublime gameplay. There games generally feel very fun to play in general. Mariokart 8, Zelda BOTW, Mario Odyssey, Splatoon, Mario Tennis Aces, etc, all feel great to play.

Though yeah, I do agree Nintendo has somewhat of a wierd cult religion surrounding it at times. Like, Kirby Star Allies and Pokemon Lets Go are NOT worth a full fat 60 bucks, and would get shatted on if anybody else other than Nintendo released them. With how hilariously dumbed down Lets Go is, I'm so shocked to find many people defend it. Kirby Star Allies got a 72 on metacritic and people people were propping that up as great score, it was pretty amusing to see.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Here in the US PS4 is $300 and PS4 Pro $400. Just checked every online retailer. The Spider-Man bundle sold out before Black Friday and was never restocked. Xbox by comparison was going for $250 S and $450 X for the first half of the month, for the 3rd week it dropped to $200 S and $400 X. While Nintendo is sure to win December NPD due to the family friendly Switch selling well due to people buying it as a Christmas Present, hopefully the price advantage for S and X vs PS4 Slim and Pro was enough to push Xbox into 2nd place for December NPD.

I also live in the US.  Gamestop still lists the Spiderman bundle for 200 not sure if its actually still available though.

Around the Network

I played a a good chunk of the witcher 3 back in 2015 off my friends PS4, and I thought it was just okay.

However I never got around to doing a proper playthrough from start to finish for a long time, just started a few days ago.

So far, no, the game definitely isn't a masterpiece. More like a 7.5-8/10. I'm at the part where

meet bloody baron for the first time

Velen feels bland and samey throughout, with copy pasted towns everywhere. The open world just isn't nearly as interesting to explore as it is in Fallout/Elder Scrolls. I dislike the "batman vision" mechanic in most games, and its no different with this game, except I hate it even more.

Cause many of these quests are based on this stupid sherlock homes mechanic. Half the time I am scanning the ground for some random person's shoe, bloodmarks, or something.

The graphics are very well done. I think the story is great so far, and the side quests have good stories behind them as well, but this would be much better as a linear game. The actual "open world" portion is done much better in many other games.

Just out of couriosity flashfire926, why do you think BotW has a better open world than Witcher? I'm asking because I played BotW for several hours and all I see is a world that feels as empty as Sea of Thieves during launch. There's no detail or anything. Maybe the most lifeless open world I've experienced.

Yet Witcher was amazing. Full of detail, stuff and small stories worth exploring.

I cant put a finger on it. But I'll try my best to explain

The level of interactivity with the world (stuff like link cutting grass from his sword, being able knock down trees, climb up any cliff, creating a fire and using it as paraglider updraft, the list goes on). It feels like a core component of the game, rather than just a backdrop for where the story takes place (witcher gives you an exact LINE on the minimap for you to follow). The area where I'm in right now, Velen, just feels repetitive and samey, and every town just feels copy pasted (as I already said). Exploration feels much more rewarding in BOTW, and the map doesn't immediately fill up with question marks already giving away where the points of interest are.

Well, its sorta supposed to empty. It's a hyrule in ruin, far from its glory days. It really gives this quaint and peaceful feel.

edit: keep in mind I havent gone to skillege or even noviigrad yet, so my opinion can possibly change.

Finding a good gwent card is as good as it gets when it comes to exploration rewards!

Have read tge Witcher books, I can tell you that the "Holmes" missions are what Witchers all about. They get mutated as children to take these kind of jobs. It's their main job as Witchers and their source of income.

No other games does side missions better than W3. Exploring the world to find these characters and their stories is as fun as it gets.

This game has large cities, small village, castles, keeps, abandoned villages, sewers, caves, swamps, forrest, military camps, mountains, seas. Different kinds of monsters, animals, bandits. Meaningful collectables like armour, potions, and scrolls. In addition tp the spectacular side missions you can find exploring the world, you can find fist fights, horse races, and gwent matches. I'm sure I forgot a lot of things as well. Saying the world is empty or there isn't much variety in the game is unfair, in my opinion.

Just finished Mutant Year Zero.

It really gets a lot easier later on. Mechanical enemies were the easiest IMO. Two of my guns had a 50% chance of stunning them and two of my characters had a mutation to stun them, so they never had a chance to move. Only used two EMP grenades against the search light mech with his two scouts.
Found some nice weapons along the way, upgraded them to max level and equipped them with critical damage modules obviously. Two of my characters had a base critical chance of around 50% and with some other mutations even up to 100% while using stealth. So in the end even the strongest enemy could be killed in one round with three crits in a row, which happened quite frequently.

What I liked about the game:
Gameplay is fantastic..
Graphics are amazing for an indie game.
Great world design.
Fast travel.
Lots of different enemy types.
Chance of success when shooting is much more forgiving. 75% feels more like 90%. If you played XCOM, you know that 90% there is 60% at best.

What I disliked:
Still a bit buggy. Nothing game breaking but I had one nasty sound error when I arrived in Eden. Character was stuck during a running animation mid battle. Fixed itself a few seconds later. The same character was stunned in another battle and still had the stun animation when the battle was long over. Enemy marker not disappearing even though there aren't any enemies on the map. etc.
Difficulty too hard at first and too easy at the end. In that regard also the abuse of mutations.
Almost no good stuff to buy at the shop. I have scrap up the ass but the weapons and armor in the shop are incredibly bad.
No possibility to sell stuff (other than disassembling weapons).
Loot could be better (lots of shitty helmets and only three silent weapons)

Definitely something to check out on Game Pass.
8.5/10
