I don't Trust MS with building a 1st party studio from the ground up, how many times over the years have we been burned with this?

If they were to do this then they would have to start by Poaching already established talent from other Studios who have worked on AAA games over the years and build around them like Rod Fergusson.

And we´d be hearing about it by now.Building a studio isn´t exactly something that can remain a secret.

There is no way Fable 4 will be at this years E3. I expect Xbox internet streaming next gen.

Tbf, Microsoft does have a few great partner studios and I'd hope they would lock down their next games; Moon Studios (Ori/2nd IP), Undead Labs (SoD/2nd IP), Playground Games (Fable/Horizon) and they need to return to Iron Galaxy (KI or something else) & Insomniac (SO2 or something else).

Obviously they've had bad examples though, Darkside (Shutdown), Platinum Games, Remedy (I think repairable) and Obsidian (Doesn't sound like they hold a grudge against Microsoft but they're busy with Take Two now).

Budget needs to increase, Microsoft needs to become less risk averse and focus on expanding the relations with the great partners they already have along with scouting for new ones, It's possible if Microsoft sticks to it.

Sales don't really matter in this conversation, If they were made by internal studios they would still sell the same, except in this scenario Microsoft would likely just shut down the studio. It's funny how Microsoft is practically funding two studios right now though (Electric Square/Playgrounds 2nd Studio).

I would like to see them purchase some studios but as long as they keep the contracts going it's honestly not worth it and on the chance that these studios suddenly changed their mind about wanting to be purchased, Microsoft hopefully like EA with Respawn has contractual rights to make a matching/better offer if another publisher attempted to purchase them with some of their closer studios.

They also need to stop focusing so much on Multiplayer and make high budget single player games with good narrative. We will keep hearing Phil Spencer congratulate Sony and Nintendo about their great games meanwhile I will ask myself "well then why doesn't he fund/greenlight a game like that?".

The only high budget game like that I can think of is Quantum Break and he didn't greenlight that game, it was being worked on since before the XB1 reveal and was tied to the Xbox TV stuff that was ditched/killed and ate up a big % of that budget, the other one was Ryse that changed development from a Kinect game.

Just a reminder, these three games are leaving Xbox Game Pass at the end of April:
-NBA 2K17
-WWE 2K17
-Lumo

In total, one game was removed in December, two in January, twelve in February, nine in march, now three more in April.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

That's really what makes me wary about stuff like this, the thought of the games leaving is probably what will avoid me paying for a Game Pass subscription.

Yeah, things can get dicey with licensing/deals and whatnot. It could get a bit iffy if a game you're in the middle of is about to get removed. Microsoft already told us that it was "rotation", and that games could get removed. I think MS's compensation for that is the 20% off discount for any game pass game to buy it outright.

So far though, if you look at the games removed, its mostly only filler XBLA titles, replaced by some more high-profile games.

I really don't see that as a big deal, and it's no different than services like Netflix dropping certain things out of their library from time to time. I mean first off, you're usually not going to be paying/subscribing to these types of services if your interest is limited to just one or two particular things, you're doing it so you can have access to a lot of things, at a small fraction of the cost you'd pay for them all individually. Second, as long as you're always informed ahead of time when and what is being dropped, you're never going to miss out on something you desperately want to experience before it's removed.

I mean Game Pass is what....10 bucks per month? I think I've seen like 3 month subscription codes for 22 or something, so less for longer term membership. How many of the individual games on there can you go out and get for 10 bucks or less? Even if they swapped their entire library out every year or so, there's still pretty much no way one could say as a customer that they wasted their money, or didn't get great value.

Definitely.

Also servers for WWE 2K17 and NBA 2K17 will likely close this year (WWE 2K16 servers were closed on May 31 2017!), so they are kicking them out and we'll likely get the 2K18 versions in a few months.
So far they are really just kicking out older or outdated games.

Darrell Gallagher left Square Enix after more than 10 years with the company. Darrell has worked as Square Enix’s Head of Product Development and Western Studios, where he shepherded the successful launches of Rise of the Tomb Raider, Lara Croft Go, Life is Strange and Just Cause 3, and queued up other major launches, including Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Hitman. Prior to that, he was Crystal Dynamics’ Studio Head, where he led many projects including the reboot of Tomb Raider.

Darrell Gallagher also served as Senior Vice President and Head of Development at Activision from 2016+

He sounds like another Rod Fergusson....Perfect guy to open a studio around...

Tons of Experience with 2 Major publishers, sounds like a good addition to the team.
