Was looking back over how developers have improved from their first efforts on the hardware to their latest, and we've come quite a way.

Honestly considering the Wii U is less than 1/3 of the PS4 hardware wise, the graphics are pretty darn good in some games. Also goes to show how much is still left on the table for the ps4 & xbox 1.
Ah, cool.
Great to see that the Wii U is capable of some great stuff!
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I do like the graphics on a lot of the wiiU games so it is certainly progressing nicely

I wonder...
The problem is that both consoles are held back with the multiplats. They have to conform to both the X1 and the PS4, wich means neither one has the room to excel. First party games are the only ones that can show us how far the individual hardware's can go and be built from the ground up with those strengths in mind.
Sadly, neither company seems to rival the output of Nintendo.
Nintendo and the developers who have pushed the system have done so with great art styles and vibrant colors. Obviously the U cannot compete on a purely technical basis, so they continue to find creative ways to make their games look stunning.
For me personally, I've always enjoyed a great art style over purely technical impressive looking games. So games like Child of Light, Ori & the Blind Forest, Mario Kart 8, and Bayonetta 2 reign supreme for my eyeballs.

God, I hope we catch a glimpse of their project at E3 if just for this comparison. I'm sure the difference will be astronomical (which is saying a lot, because DKC:TF looks amazing imo).

Ya despite being much weaker than the competition, I feel Wii U has some of the most visually pleasing games of the generation so far.
