Forums - Gaming Discussion - Are there any reasonable metrics by which Nintendo isn't the best video game developer of all time?

Is Nintendo the best?

Yes. Yes, they are. 207 69.23%

I am butthurt. 28 9.36%

Scoreboard 64 21.40%

Total:299

How about the metric for most games sold on home consoles only
I wouldnt be surprised if EA or activision have sold more.
Yes Nintendo have been around longer but only brings out games for their systems they tend to bring out games for multiple systems.

sure, but one could also say: desperatly trying to keep old franchises, which had their relevancypeak a long time ago, alive because a) lack of creativity or b) milking the cow until she's dead business practices.

Milking would mean the games would decline in quality...

not on my watch. my definition of milking is soely based on the releasefrequency and timeframe. it's mainly because imso no amount of productionquality and effort could even save my favorite franchise from growing tired on me at some point. nothing good lasts forever.

Well they usually sell better than most other franchises, so they must be doing something to them...

Put it this way: Few developers have even developed 50 games, but we could likely make a "top 50 Nintendo games" list and still be leaving quality titles out.

In terms of the sheer quantity of their quality releases I'm struggling to come up with a way anyone else would compete...

You wouldn't happen to be a Final Fantasy fan then would you?

Lots of sour grapes in this thread. You haters had three days to speak up, and said nothing. It's too late now. Just accept reality, bow your heads, and move on with your lives.

Haha days with no replies just means few agree with you. Nobody is saying they are a bad (Publisher, not developer), but when you got Naughty Dog and Rock Star making 10/10 after 10/10 its hard to say they aren't in the running.

And there are other amazing developers too besides those as well...

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

Thats true.  Cant really think of a developer that can match the amount of quality titles.

Maybe the biggest metric of all, most gamer's don't care not about nintendo games.

Also they take few risks, they just rehash redo release the same thing over and over. They don't cover the variety of games, just stick to a cookie cutter formula for the most part. Imho MS more then matched them this gen going of console exclusives quality. Comparing single developers, nintendo has no one that can match Naught Dog or Rockstar.

Yeah, because ND and Rockstar just makes games in so many different genres...
