WRONG!
Virtual Boy my friends
900k sold lifetime!
Itll be the 2nd worse selling though.

This. Love how everyone conveniently forgets the real console that sold the worst.

Virtual Boy was marketed as a portable console(and thus regarded as a handheld), and not Nintendo's main home console for the fifth generation. Wii-U so far is NIntendo's worst selling home console.

I don't consider it a mobile device. It had its own controller and stand.

It was regarded as a handheld even by Nintendo themselves, look up the fifth generation of video game consoles if you will. Also even if it wasn't it's like saying Vita TV is Sony's worst selling console, it simply not the main home system.

Alright then. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_TV-Game

First gen console. 3 million sold. Wii U is not the worst selling console Nintendo made.

Haha fine it's not the worst selling ever who cares, it's still terrible coming from 100m+ with Wii. *edit: actually color tv game series was Japan only, so Wii-U is still the worst selling home console. And even if we look at Japan only it's almost a million behind there.

On-topic: Nintendo's financials show that Wii-U is probably overtracked by a few 100 k, also it barely shipped half of what Gamecube did in the same quarter, so it's falling behing even further.

Not a issue. The topic of the thread is debunked and Nintendo reported profits for the fiscal year. All fewer console sales do is ensure that my collection is growing in collectors value years down the road.

you know the situation is crazy when people have to bring up obscure systems that predate the NES, that were NEVER released outside Japan, that only was able to play ONE game at a time just to make Wii U look better. Crazy times. I dont think that makes a good case. Its like comparing Saturn to 32x

Wii U is now officially one full year behind the GameCube in sales.

GameCube hit 9.5+ million in shipments in March 2003 ... a full year faster than the Wii U (equivalent time period from launch).

Actually i edited my post since i realised Color TV series was Japan only. And even in Japan alone Wii-U is still about 1 million behind. So thread is as true as ever, Wii-U is the worst selling Nintendo home console ever.

Safe to say the WiiU is worst selling Nintendo home console of all time.

Wrong.

This sold 3m lifetime, there goes you topic.

Forgive me if for not using this Japan only release and in a pre-establish era of Video Games.... it did outsell all of the competition of the First gen.

Well with PS3 they did turn it around but at what cost? They lost billions on that device. And I didn't say drop Wii U like a rock, a holiday 2017 launch for the successor gives it a full 5 year cycle and means we are literally only halfway thru with Wii U.

I don't know a whole lot of specs and the technical side of things but from what I have read, most game engines are very scalable these days with things like Unreal Engine 4 being compatible on mobile, console & PC. Look at games like Destiny or Watch Dogs that are on PS3/360/XB1/PS4/PC, all devices with different specs yet they are all able to handle the same game at different graphics settings.

Well PSP debuted at $250 and did pretty well for itself because it was marketed correctly and had a strong software lineup so it's certainly possible for a powerful handheld with strong marketing and software output to sell well.

I'm not the biggest authority on this but i am farly certain that things like AI and textures go in the RAM memory. If they dont have the same the portable version would always have to be a very downgraded port. They couldnt just bring the game out for both and the home console version would be held back the same way current crossgen games hold back next-gen games.

They will also start making claims that Nintendo's Color TV-Game console be considered has one of the best consoles of all times. The intent of the thread is not bashing Nintendo but it is me admitting that the WiiU is not going to outsell any other Nintendo's Home Consoles (Post 1981's). Even Nintendo is ready to drop the WiiU.
