Well...not really true.  7th gen for Sony was anything but thriving.  Literally spent the gen building their network infrastructure, and new IP's to give them great momentum going into 8th gen.  Losing massive massive amts of money on the PS3, isn't what I'd call thriving.

SOny clearly wasn't on the ball.

Honestly, I think they simply had a product that would've been far better received before the financial collapse of the world, and the Earthquake etc... median incomes after that plummeted, and people just couldn't afford that kind of stuff as easily as they would've prior to the collapse.  I wouldn't call the price arrogance (since they were taking a 2-300 loss on each console), but...they certainly weren't thinking about the possibility of such a collapse occuring.

Glad we're getting numbers again.

I never bought into the Sony arrogance part. For me it was just a bad reading of the market or as you said a very bad luck from the market crash.

Yeah, I just don't think they could've foreseen it happening, honestly.  Even in the most fantastical market predictions, who would've thought the worlds economy would've gone tits up like that?  And then the whammy of the Earthquake, the Nuclear plant issues etc...  I mean, it literally was a convergance of some ridiculously unforseeable catastrophes.

DAT domination.

Of course crazy Ken speach was a little moronic and it was a big risk to launch something for 600 while already making a big loss of 800... but I wouldn't change anything on my PS3, at most I would have kept PS2 backwards compatibility and more USBs.
