I want so badly to believe in this production, but I can't seem to summon any enthusiasm. Between Disney's proclivity for gentrification and Abrams' slick, but shallow, directing style, I can't imagine The Force Awakens will deliver the goods.

Seeing Ford and Mayhew on screen together again was pretty special, though :)

I disagree with in every imaginable way.

Disney has excelled with the Marvel franchise and even their own more "Disney" productions over many years at this point. Their track record is amazing.

Abram's Star Trek and many other titles are equally as amazing.

Then you add to that who all is involved with this movie (its largely the driving forces behind Empire Strikes Back) and you have a massively winning combination. Hell, by Revenge of the Sith even Lucas had largely figured out what the fan base wanted and didn't want in new SW movies.

I feel that there is a very high possibility that this will be THE movie of 2015 and only potentially beaten by the other Disney flick... Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Great.

hope it good tho

That trailer was a lot better to me than the first one.

I'm being cautiously optimistic about Star Wars in the hands of Disney. They've done a great job with making Marvel a successful movie franchise. I just hope they can do as well with Star Wars.

abrams star trek is amazing for the average viewer .. an action packed, 2 hour trailer like flick (where everything is blown out of proportions) and which by the way hates epileptics.. and im not expecting anything more or less from star wars.

I appreciate your opinion.

Disney has done well in codifying the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that's for sure, but the movies, in general, aren't world-beaters. Moreover, the best of the Marvel movies, Iron Man, was released before Disney purchased Marvel Entertainment. In terms of financial investment, marketing, and business planning, Disney has hit a home run with the Marvel properties. In a business sense, it's a masterstroke. But smart business does not great cinema make.

As for Abrams' vision of Star Trek, in my opinion it's been a train wreck. He appears to have zero respect for the series' origins. Over the course of two movies, he's erased four decades of work, replacing the science and humanism of Star Trek with lens flares and plot holes.

On Lawrence Kasdan, we agree. He and Irvin Kershner -- not George Lucas -- are the two best things ever to happen to Star Wars. But I fear his ideas will be subsumed by Abrams' and/or Disney's vision for the franchise.

In any event, I sincerely hope you're right and I'm wrong. Nothing would make me happier than a great Star Wars movie.

The teaser was okay... the only cool part was Kylo Ren using the mask of the legendary old sith (I forgot his name xD).

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Never watched a single Star Wars film in my life, I need to rectify that before 7 releases.

Watch 4, 5, 6 then 1, 2, 3

Don't give false information. Everyone knows there are only 3 star wars movies.

The last scene was cool. Enjoyed that!

Hearing Luke's voice again, and seeing Han and Chewie again wasn't cool?

I don't think so. Why should it be? They were amazing characters for the movies they starred and that's it. We all know they're here just to please/distract old fans... basically I see it as a fan service, which is a thing I don't tend to like.
