I thought the same thing to. The lighting, shadows and even the models look crisper. It may be a visual effect because the new levels look beyond stunning but I felt that the progress they've made in the short time since launch they've really grown leaps in their ability to produce in HD.

I'll say it, art direction this cycle from the Wii U has given me more of a wow factor than anything else I've seen on the next gen consoles.

Yeah, Nintendo's graphical output on Wii U has improved dramatically since launch. It's no secret they struggled with HD development early on, but they seem to have a good handle on it now. Comparing launch games like New Super Mario Bros U and Nintendoland to newer stuff like this and Captain Toad, it's not even close.

I think one thing that helped their HD transition a lot is that they resisted the urge to limit or mute their color palette.  A lot of devs did this when making the transition, with the purpose being iirc to compensate for deficiencies in their engines, specifically lighting.  However, I think keeping their color palette wide has helped Nintendo's visuals stay solid even during early struggles.

Big Blue must have come with the og game, not as DLC. Must be great to play at 200cc mode.
That Baby Park trailer looks pretty boring. In Double Dash was great.

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Big Bluuuuuuueeeee! The new tracks look incredible! Glad they keep getting more mileage out of this game and keeping things interesting. 200cc and now some great DLC. Looks great!

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

the track IS boring, but playing it with friends is just so fun, the ultimate course for a mk party.

Even within the bounds of a colourfful presentation, they've come a long way:

F-Zero tracks show that there are those that probably want to make another F-Zero game but the suits are holding them back. Which honestly just makes me sad, I loved those games (well at least the home console and arcade versions after the first one)
