The 3DS is an incredible system, and in my opinion, far superior in every way to the DS. There are many reasons I think this, but I can't be bothered to name them, so simply, this is my opinion :)

This feels like a response to the 2 other threads saying the opposite. Lol

Outside of 90+ scores (though that becomes 4 vs 6 in favor of the DS if we exclude small digital titles), the 3DS is still a long way from catching up to the overall critical acclaim of the DS's library. If we extend the range to 75+ it becomes 107 vs 233 in favor of the DS, and for 80+ it's 57 vs 119.

Linear metacritic comparisons are a bit silly though :p

It's also a bit strange to do because people's standards change constantly.

See what you did there.

@OP
Because it is awesome.

well.. technically, every DS game is also a 3ds game because the 3DS is retro-compatible........so the DS library is also part of the 3DS library. Then, the 3DS has at least 14 games with a metacritic of 90+

THen we can add GBA to DS. :)

I`d say both consoles had really great titles under their belts ; ) I guess the 3DS made some things possible, like finally playing smash on the go, and having clean looking 3D models on games. I didn`t pay as much attention to the DS games as I do 3DS, but I`m sure you can find some really great stuff on the DS too. The DS however doesn`t have any great FE games...

This is easy to answer. The DS had the capability to expand developer's minds with how to implement gameplay with two screens, or one screen with touch mechanics, or just other games that didn't use either. However, the 3DS, and I don't know why, still isn't open to as much third-party developers as the DS was..

- remember the Final Fantasy ports of 3 and 4? -

Not to mention the much bigger library the DS had, they were simply able to connect to a bigger base from kids to adults, was affordable, and had tons of third-party development along with the AAA software that Nintendo usually creates..

- Metroid Prime Hunters, Mario Kart DS anyone? -

What pushes 3DS above DS? I keep seeing that people believe it's surpassed its predecessor, but I don't see how....

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."
