For me, not matter how stronger the mobile industry became, the 3DS fought hard and fought back with great titles.

Yeah, even though I'm not a fan of portables, I respect the 3DS's valiant fight against the onslaught of the cancerous mobile plague.

Indeed. It is going to be interesting to see people who have an interest 5-10 years from now get one; only to realize that library's value most likely will have skyrocketed.

3DS: Successfully beat the mobile trends.

WiiU: Great console that never made it due to the betrayal of hardcore fans by Nintendo last gen with the casual based Wii console.

Yep, I fail to see how the wii u is even at gamecubes level yet. Won't even be remembered as fondly as the little box at this point but who knows what games are still coming.

if you ask me it's already a better console than the Gamecube; it's got a better 3D Mario, a better Mario Kart, a better Donkey Kong, a better Pikmin, a better Smash Bros...

That is all nice and I agree on all the better games (except I think there is a debate for the better Smash Bros game) except the GC actually had better 3rd party support (sad as it was it was at least still there for more then the first 6 months) and it was actually one of the better pieces hardware for its time (love the Wii U and it is underrated power wise but Nintendo took short cuts just like they did with the Wii before it rather then put it on a even playing field with its competitors).

In terms of Nintendo output they have had a number of stronger games but in terms of actual system design and impact. The Wii U still has to hope to wind up reaching the GC's level by the end of its life.

Wii U's third party support lasted a year, not 6 months. And the best games on both systems are the first party ones.

Ultimately, to  me, a system is a means to play games. It's the games that matter most, and even at this stage in its life, Wii U has Gamecube beat in my view. The addition of future games like Splatoon, Yoshi's Woolly World, and Xenoblade Chronicles X will only widen the gap.

WiiU: The 2nd coming of the Gamecube.

That's not necessarily a positive.

3DS: The better half of Nintendo's 8th generation line-up.

Hmm, we have to disagree then.

While I do now remember you are right, the Wii U got solid 3rd party support until after the 2013 holiday season, I think while as always Nintendo put out the best games, some of the best titles on the GC like Phantasy Star Online Episodes 1&2, Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil 4 (and the REmake), Tales of Symphonia, Ikaruga and the two Baten Kaitos games were among the best the system had to offer and of the top games of that console generation. Special games such as those are what help make a console enjoyable and while Nintendo will no doubt have its own special games to elevate the Wii U, that lack of titles such as those hurt it, much like the barren last years of the Wii's life.

I think in game history this generation for Nintendo will ultimately be seen as the generation that led Nintendo into smartphone development due to declining sales.

3DS will be the handheld that sold about%50-%60 of its predecessor
The Wii U will be the console that sold about %15-%20 of its predecessor
