That is all nice and I agree on all the better games (except I think there is a debate for the better Smash Bros game) except the GC actually had better 3rd party support (sad as it was it was at least still there for more then the first 6 months) and it was actually one of the better pieces hardware for its time (love the Wii U and it is underrated power wise but Nintendo took short cuts just like they did with the Wii before it rather then put it on a even playing field with its competitors).

In terms of Nintendo output they have had a number of stronger games but in terms of actual system design and impact. The Wii U still has to hope to wind up reaching the GC's level by the end of its life.

Wii U's third party support lasted a year, not 6 months. And the best games on both systems are the first party ones.

Ultimately, to  me, a system is a means to play games. It's the games that matter most, and even at this stage in its life, Wii U has Gamecube beat in my view. The addition of future games like Splatoon, Yoshi's Woolly World, and Xenoblade Chronicles X will only widen the gap.
