What if the story mode were removed from ssb4 and kept aside for this amiibo title.

Isn't the "story" mode just a series of fights against the AI?

That would be a good start. The best part of Skylanders is the story mode.

Just like Skylanders I am sure each character can have an element that unlocks special areas in game. This helps to increase Amiibo purchases and gives a legit reason to swap between fugurines during gameplay.

I only learned about Skylanders today by the way. Got Skylanders & Skylanders Giants + ~50 figurines for $50. Wii versions. Good game and would be PERFECT if modified into a Nintendo game that utilizes the entire Nintendo Universe and all of it's franchises.

Like Disney Infinity I wouldn't mind having the figurines long after the game is dead and gone. They are well known, just like Disney characters. I could put them in my man cave.

I'm suggesting that there originally was a more robust story mode in ssb4, like sunspace emissary...but that Nintendo chose to move that mode to its own title. It really makes a lot of sense.

Honestly, thinking about it, how the hell did Nintendo miss the boat on this whole figurine business? We had Skylanders and now we have 2 years of Disney Infinity.

What the heck are they waiting for?

Although to be 100% honest, something like this shouldn't be mandated to Nintendo consoles only, although I know it would if it ever came to fruition. It should at least be Wii/WiiU/3DS/PC and Mobile. At the worst at least Wii/WiiU/3DS & Mobile. Leaving out mobile for this type of game is leaving out a HUGE chunk of business.

The mobile version would pay for itself and wouldn't really hurt the company in the long run at all since just like Skylanders you could charge $79+ for the figurines + portal + mobile controller bundle and it still puts their brand name out there.

I'm not at all surprised Nintendo didn't make a Skylanders type game. It's a shame really.

I would like to see a nintendo take on the Skylanders style of adventure/action game using Amiibos. I think having a mii for standard play is a good start as well as a pack in character or two. It definitely needs to be robust to counter Skylanders quality and depth.

Didn't even think of the Mii character. Excellent suggestion.

For a F2P mobile app that would be a fantastic start, to give users a taste of the game. Of course just like Skylanders have specific areas locked out unless opened by specific elements (each character would have a set element), that way if people DO like the game they would be more likely to begin purchasing figurines. Locked out areas of course will not prevent progression in the game. It would only prohibit unlocking new special abilities for Amiibo characters and/or armors and accessories.

There is a lot they can do with the Nintendo franchises in terms of storyline.

I would like to really see this type of game, but sadly I am almost 100% certain it will not happen, and if it does they will make the mistake of mandating it to just their Nintendo branded consoles, thus greatly stunting their growth potential.

Hell, if they did a couple of themed levels for each character in Captain Toad while utilizing each character's signature abilities and such, I'd be even more compelled to buy every single one than I already am.

Maybe something like Nintendoland but with amiibos and more fleshed out games

This is exactly what I would want and expect.
