Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Star Fox on Wii U Will Have a Cockpit View, “Beautiful Cinematics” and More

Did none of the people moaning about the first person controls read the article.. ? It clearly says that it's optional and you can play it in third person if you want to right at the beginning of the article.

There are two things GUARANTEED with Nintendo games:

1) The gameplay is going to be as tight as fuck.

2) The game is going to have a ridiculous amount of polish.

Have you all been away from gaming for the last 30-40 years or something..? Lmfao, unbelievable.

He never confirmed that you can turn off Gyro aiming, which would be horrible in a game like this.

I cant help it, but I don't have high hopes for this game. At best it will be close to Star Fox 64, which is great for fans, but I need more to be interested. Just a plain shooter with no upgrade system or other RPG like features just wont excite many people I think.

This interview has been posted many times already. My response to it has as well.

I have little faith that this game will be good. There's nothing to signify that players can simply ignore the stupid gamepad gimmick, so I don't understand why that site would say that they can. I don't want to "get serious" by using the gyroscope and looking at a completely separate screen. The gamepad should complement the TV, not distract from it. That's why the gamepad is so perfect in WWHD. This doesn't seem to be the case at all in Star Fox Wii U.

I can't disagree more. Using it for a cockpit view is vastly superior to just putting the menu on the gamepad.

Some of y'all are pretty pessimistic for no reason. Let them show you something before you throw it under the bus. I mean if Hyrule Warriors can actually turn out well, I think the creator of Zelda/Mario can figure out how to make a decent Star Fox game.....

I agree with you. I watching the ign video about the gameplay and Jose otero described this as a way to continue firing even if you are flying away from your target. Also he mention some crazy hovering craft/helicopter thing.

I don't need to see it, the very concept of using the Gyro to aim while you steer with analogue is cringe worthy.

Why is that? I enjoyed it in Metroid Blast.

Sorry to hear that. Have fun playing Star Fox 643D then. I'll be enjoying the new one.

I won't, I don't do portable gaming. I'll be booting up Starfox on my 20 year old SNES instead. ;)

To me, it's fine as a short term novelty like in Captain Toad, or in slower paced settings, but in a game like Starfox it sounds really awkward. The controls in Metroid Blast annoyed me.
