Couldn't agree more people need to see the actual price lower. I actually learned about this in a class once. It's why you see thing like $2.99 instead of just $3.00. It's why the PS4 is $399 instead of just a flat out $400.

I don't remember what exactly the class talked about when it came to that. I just remember they said there was a reason that prices were like that. It makes people feel like their saving more money then they actually are or something like that. Basically it's a mind game

maybe it was a marketing class? im about to graduate in "Marketing and International Business" and Price is one of the 4 Ps of the marketing mix, (Placement, Promotion, Product and PRICE).

Nah it was a highschool class might have been economics...no clue just remember it being one of the more interesting parts of a very boring class.

Makes sense setting up a price is a very basic concept.

Well it's slowly going to start being eclipsed greatly by the PS4 again but sales should be better than last year because the balls already started rolling

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

Thanks for all the great memories!

People seem to be making this into something its not. The $349 Price tag is just a mental barrier. The Xbox One has had similar deals for since September:

Free Madden in August = Effective Price $339.00
Free Game during Destiny launch Effective Price $339.00
Ass Creed Bundle in November and December Price $349.00

They will just introduce another bundle and the value will still be the same, but their is a mental block if the price tag doesn't explicitly say its cheaper than the PS4.

very true which is why i belive that selling a PS4 at 349 would increase sales way more than a bundle with a game at 399. the mental barrier created by a price is a really big factor.

It's because a flat number like $3.00 or $400.00 appears to be in a different "tier", per se, in terms of cost. Because you, initially, only look at he first digit. The "3" in "$399" is lower than the "4" in "400", so, subconsciously, you think the item is "cheaper". I've read about this. Yes, it's a straight up mind game.

I think it'll stay at 350 but just without the free game. It only mentions the bundle.

the only thing that this confirms is that "that" particular bundle will not be offered for 350 after 1/3/15 it doesnt mean another sku will not be offered for 350

it was a bundle that offered games that typically releases during the holiday you cant expect it to keep being produced

no reason to keep losing money on it now that the holidays ended over on amazon the AC XB1 comes with a 50 dollar gift card and the ps4 400 dollar sku has been a spot or two behind it on the hourlys ever since christmas ended

                                                                      Play Me

it is because they will make the undecided to buy it before 4th jan. so, will increase the sales.
will rise again the price to do not disapoint who bought at 350$.

is just marketing

They will rise thé price back to 400$ then 3 months later they will definitely cut thé price

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

oh, you know they'll loophole their way out of having to raise the price back to $399. And when someone calls them out on this "trick" to get people to get XBones because they think they're "on sale", MS will just say "sorry, we apologize for the confusing language. We should have made such and such clear when we started the promotion", when it's pretty obvious what the wording means.

Look online for an Xbone. Only official one (as in, without any store specific deals) is the Assassin's Creed bundle for $350. No vanilla XBones are available for sale, anywhere. The wording in the press release says "The holidays are almost over, but there’s still time to take advantage of the special, limited-time pricing of $50 off the Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Unity Bundle and Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Unity Bundle with Kinect.". That just means the AC bundle won't be $350, if anything. The vanilla Xbone will return to availability, it'll be $350, and when people say "what gives, I thought this was only for the holidays?", they'll say "we meant the bundle would be $350 for the holidays. Not the Xbox One by itself. Sorry if you misunderstood"

I remember taking a class similar to that back in college, more or less marketing but at the same time I took an e-Business class for two years and first years were brought up to spec with SWOTs. I found both classes to be rather interesting at the time and once you learn both it becomes easier to see the strats and tactics the big 3 use, compared to the average person who doesn't see much and takes what they see, for me when I see £399, I know it's basically £1 less and I know I'm not saving much money but if it's less than £399 (say £250) then I know I'm saving near £50 the original RRP which sounds moe like a deal.

I'm also looking at every price offer around my local food chain stores to see how good the offers really are when they stack up against single product prices and how much you actually save, you'd be surprised how many deals make it sound like you're saving money but you're actually not that well off.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"
