CosmicSex said: People seem to be making this into something its not. The $349 Price tag is just a mental barrier. The Xbox One has had similar deals for since September: Free Madden in August = Effective Price $339.00 Free Game during Destiny launch Effective Price $339.00 Ass Creed Bundle in November and December Price $349.00 They will just introduce another bundle and the value will still be the same, but their is a mental block if the price tag doesn't explicitly say its cheaper than the PS4. |
very true which is why i belive that selling a PS4 at 349 would increase sales way more than a bundle with a game at 399. the mental barrier created by a price is a really big factor.

Couldn't agree more people need to see the actual price lower. I actually learned about this in a class once. It's why you see thing like $2.99 instead of just $3.00. It's why the PS4 is $399 instead of just a flat out $400.
I don't remember what exactly the class talked about when it came to that. I just remember they said there was a reason that prices were like that. It makes people feel like their saving more money then they actually are or something like that. Basically it's a mind game.

It's because a flat number like $3.00 or $400.00 appears to be in a different "tier", per se, in terms of cost. Because you, initially, only look at he first digit. The "3" in "$399" is lower than the "4" in "400", so, subconsciously, you think the item is "cheaper". I've read about this. Yes, it's a straight up mind game.
