Sell it to show Nintendo that you dont want their hardware then...

None other than Nintendo fans deserve Nintendo software.

Assuming Nintendo went 3rd party, imagine if MS tried to buy Nintendo exclusivity for a game or two like say Zelda. They would hardly sell anywhere. Nintendo's home country wouldn't bend over backwards to get X1s for Zelda and neither would America or Europe.

Sony is prone to do it too of course, but only with Sony would any Nintendo game stand a chance of selling well throughout the world. It's just how the demographic split is with Japanese games.

Hell, all I can hear from friends of people buying X1s in America is if they have Madden or Call of Duty to this day. I swear it's like 2007 all over again.

Japan isn't bending over to get WiiU's either, and Zelda isn't that big in Japan. Not the best game you could have picked.

Xbox is far more diverse than you think it is. Say hello to the 15m+ people playing Minecraft on Xbox 360. Hardly the COD/Madden crowd is it?

Look at something like Rayman. It sells about the same across Wii/Xbox. Despite Wii having that kind of userbase. The brand (Rayman) just isn't big enough, it's not that that kind of audience isn't there (as proven on Wii).

They're getting far more Wii Us than X1s, that's for sure.  The demographic split got worse too there and in Europe and America regarding Japanese games.  I picked Zelda because it tends to do better in America than Japan, but it still does well enough in Japan to warrant keeping it on a Japanese based platform.  You take that away and Zelda loses a good portion of sales.  Likewise it will push away some people buying it in America.

Casual gamers do still of course buy MS platforms for games like Minecraft and things like...Minecraft.  I didn't put them in the general consensus though because they tend to be fickle, and Minecraft isn't a Japanese stapled hardcore series.   You never know who and how fast they're going to abandon whomever next.  I guess MS buying the rights to Minecraft is about the best thing they could do to improve their demographic past the bro gamer.  It's going to be interesting to see what happens in the future with them.

Sunset Overdrive isn't doing well for an advertised exclusive,  and It's a unique and colorful hardcore game.

Rayman like you said just has a smaller userbase despite what it offers.  However, that doesn't necessarily mean a Japanese game with a big enough brand name will do that well exclusively on a MS system.  Especially if it is a Japanese exclusive.

I'm sure Zelda would sell some systems, but I doubt it would be that much at all.

FF13 did well enough on both the 360 and PS3, but it seems like far more 360 gamers didn't like it enough to warrant buying 13-2 compared to the number of Playstation gamers who bought 13-2.  Regardless of what you might think of the quality of 13-2, the PS3 had (and still has) a significantly smaller NA user base compared to the 360.

13-2 for the PS3 outsold the 360 version 2:1 after edging out the 360 version of FF13 in NA.

The casual fanbase outside of Japan doesn't seem to like Japanese games for the most part.  Sometimes I guess if the Japanese company can reel them in good enough.  But even then if it's amazing, they could still smite the next iteration.

I would definitely buy some Nintendo games if they were available for Xbox.

I won't buy a WiiU because 1 console is more than enough for my needs, but even then, I don't like the WiiU's interface at all, I don't like the controller ect.

Not saying it's a bad system like some are, but for me it's a real turn off and I can't mess about with it at all because of what I'm used to (Xbox).

Well if Nintendo wants or needs more money that's always an option. Fortunately for us fans, they have money. And I mean mountains and mountains of it, so I doubt we will ever see the day they get out of making consoles.

Because their financial gains would be even lower. From a business point-of-view, Nintendo going third party right now would be the worse thing they could do. The company would have massive lay-offs and would lose a lot of its market value.

What would be the better? Team up with another big eletronics company for the next console, launch some games for the mobile market, and explore its franchises on other media, like movies, tv, comics etc

Want one reason? They have gone over 20 years in the gaming business and have never needed it.
