In the new Zelda Wii U footage,  ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SECWlFInyFMthey say that a metallic clink means you've hit the right spot and damaged your enemy.

Seriously, what the fuck? A metallic clink has always been a sign that you hit ineffectually, as it is the sound of the arrowhead/sword/whatever being deflected. Why the hell would a successful hit into flesh make a metallic clink?

This annoys me waaaay more than it probably should.

I thought that at first too, but then thinking back on zelda games the 3D ones at least always had some sound when you connected.

True, but it was always either a meaty thud or a musical note.

You are not being OCD, neither it is "deeply" wrong. It is a rightful complaint, but not a big deal. You'll probably get used to it when playing the game.

That still doesn't sound metallic to my ears, more of a fleshy blow accompanied by a musical note.

I completly agree with U, that metallic sound is very off putting!
I already nagged Nintendo on their Twitter account on that matter, let's all flood their Twitter so they rectify this issue!!

I got it ...since the enemies clearly have a health bar first you need to do is destroy their armor and then slash them up into pieces.

That would actually make sense, I could accept that.
