Nah. For all I've heard, it sucks as a game and is any good only if you find its 'humor' funny. I don't, unfortunately. |

generic-user-1 said: we havnt played the game yet, and yes, every videogame is art, just like every book is art... and politicians are way to uninformed to know such games, they still use Counterstrike and GTA as examples, and not realy brutal games.
who made somebody king to decide what is good taste an what not? was it the same stupid person who removed the cigarrets from beatles covers? |
Every book is art? Lol, nope.
If politicians had a field day with Postal 2, they can with this game as well.
Good taste is every man's own journey. On my Abbey Road remastered CD, the cigarette is there where it was.
LemonSlice said: Art? This "game" is the definition of a murder simulator all those politicians like to classify all violent games as. Publishing this game is detrimental to the reputation of the entire industry. And good taste is essential to any society and any man. It has become very hard for people to form good taste in the age of the internet. |
nah it's not much of a murder simulator
from what I saw in the trailer/heard from the statements of the devs there is no planing or preparation involved, only going out and shooting who/what you want to shoot, yet afaik that's manslaughter and not murder

in the end it doesnt matter if its postal 2 or gta 5, they will allways hate videogames.
and great art dont need great taste, look at books like the bible(bestselling fantasy book, full of hate and violence) or 120 days of sodom, a disgusting movie, but realy great art.
Like TB said, if you can buy Postal and Manhunt on Steam, you should be able to buy Hatred. Or in this case let the community decide if they want this game on Steam or not.

The U.S. government has never banned a video game before, and I'm fairly confident it won't start with some obscure Polish knock off of Postal. And if they tried it, the bitchslapping the Supreme Court would give them would make Hatred look like Barbie Horse Adventures. |
They don't need to ban it outright. They could just strongarm Steam to remove it again. That would be pretty close to a ban.
Also you missed the only real fat joke in this thread.

"Murder is the unlawful killing, with malice aforethought, of another human, and generally this premeditated state of mind distinguishes murder from other forms of unlawful homicide (such as manslaughter)"
According to this definition going outside with the intent of killing people because you hate all of them is pretty much spot on murder.
But I wouldn't call it a simulator. This is all dumbed down to simple game mechanics which would make this game more of an arcade.

I support the decision gabe made. Sure, the game is pretty sadistic and not many (myself included) are attracted to that type of violence, but if there is demand for it then it deserves to be available for those who want it. Anybody even thinking about buying this game should be a consenting adult, who know right from wrong. Any kid gets a hold of it, it's not the makers fault.
