I remember a lot of people (will need to dig it up) saying Smash would easily outsell Halo MCC first week.

Well, we have first week Halo MCC sales at 1,093m and it doesn't look like Smash is going to even reach 1m.

482k for Americas, 228k for Japan, leaves 290k for Europe/ROTW. UK comes in at 30k~.

Of course either could be over and undertracked but as it stands with VGC.

Few posts in there suggesting Smash would Smash Halo MCC WW!! Even I thought it was a full gone conclusion Smash would win.

Well, apparently they were expecting much better sales in Japan. SSB definitely underperformed in WW sales. it will have legs but it will have a hard time reaching 4 million. I don't see Wii U long enough to let SSB reach that amount.

Its still in with a shot i.guess. yeah smash didnt do aswell as i though in usa but then with all those amazing xbox deals un us and uk who would buy it. Im gutted bought a ps4 in august the xone deals are that good over here

Don't blame yourself. In this hyped up Smash environment that is called VGC forum it's easy to think that Smash U is the reborn Messiah that will outsell everything that came before it.

If Smash isn't strong enough to reach MCC the next stop is MK8 vs MCC :)

It is kinda suprising to me but I bought both so I'm not upset at all! I will be shocked if smash isn't ahead by the end of the month though.

Sadly the 3DS sales certainly did hurt it a little, though I would have assumed it would still have done 1M+ first week easily.
Both did quite well, hopefully Smash will have some legs?

Even though the results of your thread show otherwise most of the posts agreed that Halo would beat Smash and that Smash would beat LBP3!

In the end most people where right.
