Forums - Nintendo Discussion - 2015.. year of the WII U?

I don't see how that list beats MK8 SSB and Bayonetta 2, only Zelda can match any of those titles though X and Star Fox might make it.

Hmmm, I'm more impressed with PS4's lineup than the Wii U's.

One word answer.

Nope

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Planning on getting all of those except Mario Party 10 and Yoshi's Woolly World.

I would actually consider getting a wii u if they started pumping out adult themed games as well as all the 3rd party games being on it. It seems like the nintendo ceo is tone deaf to adult core gamers. Sony's 2015 lineup is way better.

But yeah WiiU has a few solid games next year... finally. Maybe we can have a year with a worthwhile purchase every month.

First of all, who made this into some sort of competition? The title of the thread isn't going "this is the year of the Wii U, not the others". It can be the year of more than one thing.

Second of all, is there a reason why you included a list of random games most people haven't even heard of? I've culled the list down to the titles that I've heard of, since I'm a person that follows at least some of the general videogame news (which means I should recognise the names of most of the games with at least a bit of hype, except perhaps some indie titles). Keep in mind, the list I've left isn't a list of significant titles. It's a list of titles I recognise well enough to go "I think I know what that is, and it might get some awareness outside of Japan". I did see "Nobunaga" listed a couple of times, but they were two japanese game titles, and thus there's really no reason to think they'll have any significance outside Japan (the only Nobunaga I'm aware of that made it out of Japan was renamed "Pokemon Conquest" in the west).

This isn't to say that the other titles won't be good, or that you shouldn't be highly excited for the ones that would be called niche. Just that this clearly wasn't intended as a list war thread, and if you're going to do the list war, at least consider the argument being formed - an extensive list of titles releasing on the system and not on the Xbox One isn't a comparison against a short list containing games that have a noticeable amount of hype behind them. You'll notice the OP doesn't actually list Project Guard or Project Giant Robot (they're in the image, but not in the OP's list). The OP says they're going to be picking up all of the games on that list. Can you say the same about your list?

Again, to be clear, this isn't to in any way comment on your assertion, only an emphasis on the fact that you should be making the assertion using a measure consistent with that of the OP, rather than using the lowest possible bar in order to maximise the numbers. I wouldn't be surprised if, even after culling it to titles with a lot of hype, PS4 still came out ahead... but your list doesn't demonstrate that fact.

This is a thread, in the Nintendo Discussion forum, exclaiming about how great 2015 is going to be for Wii U owners. It's a celebratory thread. Why do some people need to come in and turn it into a list competition? How about just noting how great it is for Wii U owners and moving on (or even saying that it's looking like a great game for gamers in general)?

Note that this last bit isn't specifically addressed to ktay95, but a general observation about this thread and other, similar threads, which always seem to be bombarded with people doing this sort of thing. Why can't we just celebrate great games, and a great lineup, without it having to degenerate into a list war?

There are a couple of points where I disagree with you.

First, the title of the thread could very well be combative.  It is definitely ambiguous enough that either interpretation is feasible.  If not, the OP could easily have phrased it so that there would be no doubt.  In my mind, the title implies that the author believes the Wii U will have the best year of any of the consoles.

Second, the image posted by the author is part of the OP; otherwise, why post it at all?  The comment that they will be buying all those games follows the image, not just the list.  If that's not the case, the fault would rest with the author for being misleading.

Third, the games you're leaving off the Playstation list seem kind of odd.  Planetside 2, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, and Wild, to name a few, have all seen their share of hype.  They all had lengthy trailers at E3 and elsewhere.  They probably have as much recognition among the general public as Splatoon--except for Planetside 2, that is, which certainly has more.

Seriously, if the OP wanted to avoid list wars, they could simply have made a title that did not invite them.

It will probably be the last year of the Wii U.
2016 will a new console come.

1. The question mark contains the key, though. If it was an exclamation mark, I'd agree with you. The question mark suggests that the OP was opening discussion on the Wii U's lineup, and the chosen board (Nintendo Discussion) also supports that.

2. If the image was part of their list, they wouldn't have included the some of the same games in their text list. The image is clearly intended to emphasise the "2015" part.

3. They might have gotten some hype, but I'm not aware of them to a sufficient degree. Which, as I said, isn't intended to suggest that they aren't worthy of inclusion on the list, but to demonstrate that clearly the list has gone well beyond the reasonable level of listing if you're after a plausible comparison. There's no way that I've missed two thirds of the hyped PS exclusives for 2015. Also, I left a few titles on there that I wouldn't consider to be particularly "hyped", because I at least recognised the names. I figured it would compensate for the titles I'd inevitably miss.

As for Planetside 2, I had a quick look on wikipedia, and it says it's been on Windows for two years already... and technically, it's a 2014 game for PS4.

Like I said, I wasn't actually arguing against the possibility of listing great PS4 exclusives, Sony exclusives, etc, and I have no position on which system would have the longer list in such a situation. I just recognised that the list that ktay95 provided was clearly a kitchen-sink list, rather than any serious attempt at a meaningful comparison.

I really hope they give us a Zelda Maker. That would rock so hard.
