There was no comeback in terms of sales. If anything it was a PR comeback.

In 2007 (year after launch), the PS3 outsold the 360

In 2008 the PS3 Lost by 700k units (equal to PS4 Sales week ending 22nd November)

In 2009 the PS3 outsold the 360

In 2010 the PS3 outsold the 360

In 2011 the PS3 outsold the 360

In 2012 the PS3 outsold the 360

In 2013.....

In 2014.....

 

The Xbox One can't really do a 'PS3' considering the PS3 never did a 'PS3' (On some level that sentance makes sense)



There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

ps3 still a major format in europe that is doing very well.

People can say that the years head start for the 360 didn't do them good as they still finished in 3rd (albeit practically tied) 

But if the PS3 and 360 released at the same time (And 360 still had RROD, PS3 hype from PS2) it might have been scrapped. Or at least be where Wii U is without the amazing exclusives.

PS4 is just catching up the ground. Wii catched up from everything since N64, but the Wii U unfortunately is loosing install base and Nintendo customers.

No wait, the Wii brought most of the casuals, and also the casuals went away after it.

The XBOX ONE could end up somehow outselling PS4 by the end of the gen. Nothing is for certain yet. (except perhaps, the positions of Vita, 3DS and Wii U.)

The PS is just a really strong brand. If Sondy wouldn't have had that horrible 2006 E3 (Riiiiiiiiiiiiidge Racerrrrrrrrrrr!!!) and that initial pricepoint, the PS3 would have reach PS1 level of sales.

Yes, but Microsoft went from selling 24 million Xbox's against 155 million PS2's to 84 million Xbox 360's against 86+- PS3's. Sony might be back in full swing with the PS4, but they allowed Microsoft to become so big. And Microsoft isn't going anywhere (And Nintendo will keep clinging on, who knows they might have another surprise succes).

ok why isn't the 2013 listed. PS3 outsold 360 then as well.

ok how bout this cause I really have nothing to say cause I lost the point of this thread. the PS3 came back to outsell the 360 but it didn't make a comeback?
