Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One Has Made The Most Remarkable Comeback In Video Game Industry History, Better Option Than PS4 In Holiday 2014

desperate for hits

The PS3 was the greatest comeback story ever. They came back from a ten million console loss to microsoft and tied with them at the end of a generation. It proved who has the true legs ans when it comes to long term development who has the ability and the heart. MS essentially followed Sony's lead to get back in the good graces of Xbox gamers. Sony made it really easy.

You must agree though, that after all the hate and the initial sales, this system has done well for itself. Or do you disagree?

is USA it did bad in some months, but much better in most months. in UK its doing fine, i wouldnt say great from the last offical numbers we had (around 660k). but its doing good there. as of rest of the world, its not, not at all, and so far no signs of a comeback has been shown.

Well, if by rest of the World you mean Japan, it never really had anything to come back to. The 360 was never big over there and the X1 is no different so far. It certainly is doing better than it was when the Wii U was out selling it.

being outsold by PS4 7:1 in spain.   the last offical number for XB1 was in germany was 200k as of august, PS4 is at 1 million sold as of oct 21st. in japan it was dead on arrival. and having around 62% of this sales in just USA and UK indicates that rest of the world sales are low. (to get this number i used VGC latest numbers, however i added 900k to XB1 overall numbers to make up for undertracking this of course isnt accurate, nor am i claiming it to be, its just an example to show that even if you add almost 1m to the xb1 that might be undertracked, it still proves my point, if i didnt use that the number would be a massive 71%)

Dont tell me you think europe=UK. Because the UK isnt even the biggest european market. Theres a whole continent you are ignoring there.

the media just absolutely wants Microsoft ahead no matter how bad they lose or are losing (mind u its mainly the us)
I don't get it there was no backing of the underdog during the ps3 era ,IT was all DOOM DOOM DOOM

Microsoft certainly has a unique strategy that could either work really well or backfire next year. (Temporary Price Reduction)

As of now, it seems that the XBO is going to be at the very least competive this Holiday in the U.S. This temporary price cut will increase sales in the short-term but can it stay competitive next year?

On one hand, the extra sales it gets now could benefit next years sales too. The "Friend" effect. At the same time, the temporary price cut now could hurt sales later. Many who plan to get an XBO "soon" will choose to get one now while it's cheaper.

I guess we have to wait & see if it can't catch up in the U.S

Strongly disagree. Its PS3 which did biggest comeback. Plus this gen has just started.

and its not a comeback
the gen is far from over and we have too see how it performs next year
the 3ds and ps3 are way better comebacks

So far so good but I'm still curious how well xbox one would perform at $350 without games. That should be an interesting match.

Not really a come back because the Xbox One sold really well in it's first year. I mean when I think of comebacks I think of 3DS or even PS3. Xbox was never going away because they have the money to fix anything. The brand name is still strong. Kudos tho.
