Eh, not a bad week. Sad Wii U figures though

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

3DS already below last years numbers...with 4 skus

The only thing higher than last year is Wii U. I think that needs to be taken into consideration. But people will even spin ~100k hardware sold in a week into something bad.

Nice hold for 3DS and MH4. Yōkai Watch 2 dropped a bit more than I'd have expected, but I guess with 2.5 coming along I should have. Still pretty amazing how well it's selling so many weeks in.

What is there to spin?

I'd personally expected that the combination of Monster Hunter 4G, Super Smash Brothers for 3DS, Yokai Watch 2 and two new models to keep sales somewhat brisk (higher than the 96k posted) going into the holiday season in Japan. Sales are ok but lets not kid ourselves here.

You have to put those sales into perspective, though. As I've pointed out, everything is down (except WiiU, but that could hardly have gone down any further anyway), which means that there is probably less market potential for consoles and handhelds alike. In that scenario, 3DS sales are pretty good, and pointing out that they are not is like saying "the market shrank", which, yes, it did, but it's not exclusive to the 3DS, which is why it shouldn't be singled out.

Well, to be fair, there is something to be said for platform saturation.  3DS is almost at 17 million in Japan right now.  How large is the base of active console/ handheld gamers in that country?  We have nothing to compare it to other than GBA, because DS reached so many non-gamers and those people are obviously not interested in 3DS.  3DS had a solid 2+ year run of incredible sales, and it's obviously reached it's peak in Japan.  N3DS will help, and is clearly already helping, but let's not kid ourselves and sit here expecting unrealistic sales for a platform that has been out for almost four years.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

What the heck is number 5? It has no name.

Huh, I just realized that the 3DS actually sold quite a bit more in the same week last year (115k), is the N3DS doing its job as ordered? I wonder how much it will sell in the West in the first few weeks, it cannot come soon enough.

XBO did 1.177 on famitsu, considering the promo ms did with evil... They are probably closer to reality.

3DS holding very well! Wii U half of PS4, will it dip into the same lows as last year around this time (3k and just below)? If so, then we're basically back to square one after MK, Bayo 2, Hyrule and other things that were to ensure good momentum for Q4.

Xbox One; nothing much to say, when I said it would perform worse than the 360 a long time ago, I can honestly say that it is the most confident I have ever been in a prediction in my entire life. Fish out of water.

Evil Within did okay, let's see how it holds though. MK 8 on track for a ridiculous attach rate and lifetime sales as usual...

Do I seriously need to point out that a bundle was announced which caused sales to tank? Its sales will go back up from november 13th... sheesh

Tales of the World didn't even match Tales of Hearts R sales on Vita last year. Bamco are downright stupid to have delayed Zesty for a smartphone port bomba. I hope they realize how much cost of opportunity there is in making those 3DS games when they can make superior games on Vita.
