Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will Xenoblade be just the 1st of an influx of Wii games on New 3DS?

Tagged games:

With the original 3DS, it seems that porting Wii games to 3DS was a little difficult cos of the raw power disparity.

Nintendo reckon that the faster CPU on the New 3DS made a conversion of Xenoblade doable, so could the next logical step be to port others?

Nintendo are having trouble supporting both 3DS and Wii U at once due to insuifficient manpower. Could their solution be to fill the gaps in 3DS's schedule with cheap and easy Wii ports? That would be less costly than making just as many ground-up games, but better than extended periods with no games at all.

Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 could be prime candidates, for instance.

I dunno, XC is a classic controller game after all, most Wii games aren't.
SMG doesn't seem probable at least. A good part of the gameplay involves aiming at the screen, especially in 2.

Please Nintendo make Metroid prime trilogy and galaxy 1+2 happen, those alone along with Xenoblade would make the new 3ds an instant buy for me.

Rumors I've heard say that a Super Mario Sunshine and some other GCN game are on the plate for 3D remakes.

I'm not counting on it.

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

:3

On one hand Metroid Prime could be awesome, on the other hand Metroid Prime Hunters sucked.

Odds are the 3DSn is just going to become the Portable Wii

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

No more heroes would be cool to play on 3ds!

It could be a test run to see how their console games sell on handhelds for FUSION

All they need to do is port the Metroid Prime Trilogy/the Super Mario Galaxys and I'll buy it in a heartbeat.
Xenoblade 3D is already tempting...

Honestly, I'd rather play my legitimate Wii games on dolphin (or my Wii if I didn't have dolphin) than buy them again and play them on the 3DS (with a few exceptions.) I'm not interested in playing console games on handhelds. I'm interested in playing handheld games on handhelds. I don't see myself playing Xenoblade on the bus like I play Shin Megami Tensei IV or Bravely Default (which have more bit-pieced content.) Meanwhile, I love playing Xenoblade without jaggies in 1080p 8xAA, and in the future probably with an enb hack on my new PC at full speed with no/few glitches. Same is true for the Metroid Prime games and console Zelda games. I am skeptical how well this will work (profitability) for Nintendo. Possibly Nintendo hopes to give some games more exposure to new 3DS audiences who haven't experienced them before while maintaining the few dedicated fans who are willing to purchase the games again in order to play on the 3DS. I say all this, despite the 3DS being my favorite platform of this generation. I do have to say that it was smart for Nintendo pick Xenoblade though. It was a game that had and still suffers(ed) from shortages. An digital release for the new 3DS allows as many people to download it as possible, and allows for the series to gain a boost in recognition.
