So you honestly think people will buy a console they don't want just to save $49.99? I just don't see it. People buy what they want to buy. Price really isn't an issue unless it's ridiculous amount. I don't see any of us buying a console we don't want just because it's $49.99 cheaper. It's stupid for so many reasons. You wouldn't do, I wouldn't do it... I don't know anyone who would.

The only people who this will matter to are those who actually want both and don't have the money. But those are so small in number that I don't think it will have an impact.

The Holiday season is a time when parents buy more consoles, or other people buy them for gifts and are more price concious then other times of year when people buy for themselves more. Price makes more of a difference depending on who is buying the console.

So $350 with one or two games, doesn't that make it like the same price as a Wii-U? Wii-U hardware is looking more and more overpriced.

150 dollar drop in less than a year. This is why you don;t buy a console at launch XD

Only a$50 drop for the Kinct unit. How do you get to $150?

It is near the end of the end....

That link makes it EXPLICITELY clear that Titanfall will not be on the PS4. A sequel? Sure, maybe.

But it entirely disproves your example of Titanfall as a title that moved to PS4.

My bad. How could I not see the distinction? It changes everything indeed.

PS4 players won't be able to play with Titanfall 1, only with Titanfall 2, which will then be a totally different game.

Microsoft's marketing always trumpets "Xbox One now $399" since the DisKinect. The price of entry has gone from $499 at launch timeframe to $349 with a game.

For those that don't care about Kinect (a majority, considering the sales history post June '14), the cost of an Xbox One + a game has gone from :

$560

to

$350 in about a year.

People can claim the "it's not a price drop" about the $399 bare SKU all they want, but it's a matter of perspective. As far as cost of entry, it was undeniably a price drop. And a substantial one.

MS is betting everything this holiday. It really seems like it's now or never for them.

They are loosing money doing this, better to develop a better console next time or you won't see another XBox. MS is not happy at all and the XBox division must be profitable.    Losing and losing money and money to not lose the face in NA is not what MIcrosoft want !

During an interview with IGN, Phil Spencer basically said a strength of MS is having a lot of money. Clearly he meant he can utilize some of that.

Don't worry about MS, they can afford to take risks.

This is the right price for the Kinect SKU, Kinectless needs to drop to $300.

I still think $299 is the price its should be. With free game of course.

Maybe next year.

Just nicked this off GAF:

November: XB1 launches
March: Titanfall, the biggest MS exclusive of the year, bundled free with every XB1 purchase. Bundle temporarily drops to $450
April: Forza 5 bundled for free
May: XB1 gets a new $399 SKU, removes Kinect, for June.
August: Madden bundled for free, FIFA and Forza bundled for free.
September: get a free game on top of bundled free games, includes any recent game like Destiny.
October: Sunset Overdrive bundled for free
November: $50 price cut across all bundles, Two-pack Assassins Creed Bundle and Call of Duty bundled with XB for free.

vs

November: PS4 launches at $399
September: Destiny bundle launches at $450, saving the consumer $15

MS need/want US badly. This is great for the consumer and Sony will need to react to maintain their lead in the US.

So unless Sony drop the price by $100, I don't see them winning the Next 2 NPDs.

keep in mind PS4 near doubled X1 last months ndp.

a 50$ cut is way to far from enough for X1 to out sale PS4, you really need to get your expectations in check.

^^ and that list leaves off the hugely promoted $449 Titanfall Kinect bundles for March as well.
