5 Bucks say most of what this is going to be has been done a thousand times.

Rare co-developed KI so that is a great start.  But I dont believe there next game is Banjo/COnker.  Rare tends to like to do new IP so id guess its a new IP.  THey do have two teams though so its possible one is working on Banjo or conker though.  Either way I believe MSFT will be letting another dev work on one of those if Rare decides not to.  I think one way or the other you will get Banjo 3 or COnker 2 on XBO

Kinect Party

nice

I'm surprised people are hyped. Long gone are the days where hype was justified for a Rare game simply because it had their name attached to it. They are an average studio at best nowadays, at least based off of their last few games, so much so that I wouldn't be surprised if the old Rare IP that MS is supposedly working on isn't even made by Rare themselves, at least not fully.

Would like to see them have a go though, it would be a great comeback story

"Goldeneye, Banjo Ka-zooie and Perfect Dark all remain firm favourites of mine."

I'm just gonna go ahead and seriously doubt this statement.

OT: At this point I don't think recruiting newer personell alone will be enough to bring the company back to prominence. Killer Instinct for Xbox One (which was not even mainly developed by Rare), shows that their older IPs still have the potential to gain popularity even today, and even by people who didn't necessarily grow up with the franchise. The thing about Killer Instinct though is that it doesn't have nearly as much character as Banjo-Kazooie, Conker and, to a lesser extent, Jet Force Gemini. Removing the original creators from those titles would be akin to removing Seth McFarlane from Family Guy. Their particular British humour and the way it arose through close interactions between the employees is not possible in the company's current form. (Because as many do not know, tons of classic Rare jokes are actually references to events in the Rare studios.)

As for new IPs, there is always the chance for a new Wii Sports/Angry Bird/Minecraft craze. But to me it would be misleading to label that as a successful Rare title.

Seriously Microsoft, you're ruining Rare's potential. Sell them back to Nintendo, there's less of a audience for a Rare game on the Xbox One then Bayonetta 2 on Wii U.

Why doesn't Nintendo just employ all the amazing talent that left Rare? Oh right, because they're over rated.

Anyhow, I look forward to seeing their new project.

Yeah I know.

I just feel like Phil spencers comments at allowing rare free of.Kinect work and listening to fans who want old rare back makes for great times. So far we had killer instinct that only scored as did on content. Make a full retail game and rare games will shine. I can sense a good gen for rares old ip.

I agree, but i also have confidence in their new IP as well.  Even though KSR isnt what we wanted it showed a lot of talent in game design and art style.  Especially the tech used in face scanning tech.  But yes, Phil seems to want them to get away from Kinect so im sure they will get back on track now.  Im just curious on the genre they go with.  They work on about everything.
