Forums - Gaming Discussion - Dragon Age 3: Inquisition Will Run at 1080p on PS4, 900p on Xbox One

Following an earlier report that stated Dragon Age: Inquisition would be running at 900p all across the console board, BioWare and EA have come out to state that the game will instead be “maximized for the current potential of each platform” instead of maintaining some sort of ill-thought out parity.

The studio’s official Dragon Age account on Twitter tweeted the following just now:

“Confirmed: #DAI resolution is 1080p on PS4, and 900p on Xbox One. We maximized the current potential of each platform.”

Yesterday, BioWare held a livestream of Dragon Age: Inquisition yesterday on Twitch.tv, where they detailed various parts of the game—notably its character customization and combat. Following that, a website called 1080players put out a report stating that the game would be running at 900p/30fps on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is set for release on November 18 in North America and November 21 in Europe for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.

Goes to show the difference between the two companies.

Beautiful.

But where is that parity clause?? Where??

Good on ya EA. We will see if the change in management gets some consumer advantages down the road. At this point im willing to start see them in a new light if they dont fuck up battlefront 3 and put in an extreme amount of grinding to unlock weapons like in bf4. Oh and if you could restart development on command and conquer that would be just swell.

I can't believe EA does this shit after all that money MS pays for parity!!!!

Oh well, I'll make an effort to enjoy the game even if the PS4 version isn't 900p.

Or maybe EA saw the shitstorm created by Ubi and thought "Oh shit! We need to change that config file parameter _resolution_locked before final build."

Its a cross gen game, PS4 has never had problems doing 1080/30 on cross gen. I hope this puts the MS parity argument to rest.

BF4 was cross gen, 720p on X1, 900p on PS4.

Watch Dogs was cross gen, 720p on X1, 900p on PS4.

Unity should be 900/1080, as CPU bottlenecking has jack shit to do with resolution. If you're CPU limited, it will run the same at 240p as it does at 4K, so long as you have the GPU grunt to spare.

The original unfiltered statement from Ubisoft is the only sensible explanation, as nobody has ever once proven a link between resolution and CPU power unless you're using software 3d rendering ala Quake1 non-accelerated/etc (in other words, for almost two decades now they've been de-linked).

Maximizing the potential of each console for every game is the way it should always be done, Great Job Bioware! Ubisoft should learn a thing or two from Bioware.

Yeah !  And everybody will be happy if Devs try to push as much as possible both PS4 and XOne.  Gamers will get the best from their respective console.

Far more likely, this is pretty much easy picking's for any developer to hop onto, blast Ubi, and get in good with gamers.

So I see this as more proof that Ubi cant do Unity at 1080. Unity seems to be much more demanding. They may have skipped on doing 900/60 on PS4 though and X1 will likely have less lighting effects, AA and so on. As for BF4, that was just EA putting out the junk they had with that game IMO, I am certain they could have made/patched it to 1080 on PS4.

I wouldnt be surprised as we move more colser to current gen you will see a lot more 720(X1)/900(PS4) games. They skimped on the power this gen and I think it will show in time.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.
