Did OP count X360 sales of the new Forza? According to VGChartz, combined Forza outsold DriveClub.

Why counting x360 sales?

Because I doubt many would purchase the same game on both consoles?

Even with the 360 version counted, DC outsold it (FW comparison), throwing the "higher userbase" logic out the window

See it the other way around, had Driveclub been released on PS3 people would have bought it too, so let's compare apples with apples?

Fact is the same, even if the install base is bigger, the new IP sold better despite being criticised.

Do you only use Metacritic when it suits you?

"Well... I'm pretty sure FH2 scored significantly better because it's the overall better game."

Metacritic does a good job guiding people towards good games.

Most games that get praise from fans generally score well. Right?

Well, satisfaction chases a different topic. You said the console was "lacking". As I said, given the competing system has just one more game in the genre, both machines are currently lacking there (again, which makes sense when compared to the past).

Also, since we're talking about "Meta-scores", Need for Speed Rivals (PS4) sits with an 80 on Metacritic. I'd hardly call that: "mediocre".

Especially when that "mediocre" racer is rated higher than Forza 5, which he calls "great". A bit hypocritical.

I still say NFS is medicore regardless how it scored. I'd take Forza 5 or Driveclub over NFS:Rivals.

Forza 5 took criticism primarily for having less content than previous games. GT6 got criticized for being GT5.5. Driveclub is being criticized for just being mediocre.

I'd argue criticism affects sales in the long run. Not necessarily the first week.

Regardless, I anticiapted Driveclub doing well regardless of reviews. PS4 has a large userbase and lacking in that genre. Racing fans are settling with Driveclub.

Not to mention, Need for Speed only outscored Forza 5 on the PS4, where it had no competition. On Xbox One, Forza 5 scored a 79 and NFS scored like a 74 or 75. So there's no hypocrisy there.

Not to mention it's different genres of racing. NFS Rivals is an arcade racer, Forza 5 is sim. That's like saying if an NBA Jam game outscores NBA2k, then Jam must be a better basketball game.

I think PS4 owners were also hoping Driveclub would be the next best thing to something like Gran Turismo. That doesn't seem to be the case. Its an arcade-ish game that still needs a lot of work in spite of delays.

Also, 1st party exclusivity is a big reason Driveclub is getting any attention. Its almost a shame FH2 isn't on Playstation, that's where it would be most appreciated.

Or like Destiny's meta being 1 pt higher on the XB1 than PS4.  You're right, no hypocrisy at all.  Joking aside, it's actually to do with how metacritic works (or how it elects not to), when you have a more popular machine, it usually gets the vast majority of reviews.  In the case of NFS, it's lowest score (50) is on the PS4 and it's highest (100) also on the PS4, but because there are 53 reviews on the PS4 versus 18 for the One, it messes the whole thing up.  It's strange though, because the Giant Bomb review (60) shows on both...no idea why, unless GB reviewed on both machines.

What work does Driveclub need apart from the obvious online problems? Sure weather isn't out yet, was never even promised to begin with. The single player is extremely polished, I haven't seen a single glitch in 50 hours. Well there is one tiny glitch, while the sun comes up with time acceleration and you look carefully at the sky it suddenly adjusts or clicks back 1 light level once. That's the only 'glitch' I have been able to find. Nothing like the glitch fest Rivals was with horrible loading times as well. Too bad the online overshadows the quality of the off-line game.

Anyway agreed, FH2 would sell better on ps4. Racing is more popular in Europe, FH2 is set in Europe, ps4 dominates Europe.
