Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox has around 17m Gold subscribers

In an interview the CEO of Wargaming, he revealed how many people pay for Xbox Live:

"Of course the biggest constraint would be the limited amount of Gold subscribers. Of course we have to respect that rule of Microsoft; there’s only something around 17 million Gold subscribers to that, so that’s a limitation but anyway this experiment was good, results were good, and we’re thinking what to do next."

How would he know no. Of gold subs?! Seems like he pulled that out of nowhere

Xbox Live has to be what makes Xbox financially worthwhile.

17 million is massive. The X1 appeals to core gamers so that subscription number should remain high in the coming years.

Because their game, World of Tanks which released last year, was free to all gold subscribers.

Well its possible MS told him the userbase his game would be available to.

I feel like that's information they should know before bringing their F2P game to a platform.

What??? I thought the number was around 40mil or something. You're telling me that only about 3.5 times as many people have Gold overall than have PS Plus on PS4?

I thought it would be higher. We always assumed it was around 25m. How does this compare to PS Plus?

40m was just the number of active Xbox live users so that included both Gold and Silver accounts. You don't pay for a silver account.

wow. i thought it was a lot more. i guess people are dropping gold on the 360, or some are moving on to the PS4 more than they are moving to the XB1

skewed entirely by free month users.
