Unbelievable, you still continue this? "I could have mede game like Halo, but i choose not to" "OMG WTF, Miyamoto couldn't make Halo" "We are currently working on 2D platformer" "OMG WTF, Bungie can't make 2D platformer" About computer gaming, it has been strong for only 10 to 15 years, and it has been influenced by console gaming. It is hard to what would the gaming world look like today, without Miyamoto, but it would look much different. That's same thing as saying that what would PC world look like today without Micro$oft or Apple, or what would the world of cars look today without Ford or Toyota. Anyway, looking at games before the gaming crash in US, there were games made just because they were games. For example, there were even a game, which was as shitty as it can be, with its only purpose to market burgers. Miyamotos games raised the quality in to a new level from the bottom, where it was. And we really can't argue, that is game A better than game B, since everyone has their own opinions about it. Or, of course we can, but its useless. @BenKenobi Metroid Prime is different from normal shooters, because it's an adventure game. Nintendo has stated it being FPA (First Person Adventure), and you can't disagree, that it has much more adventure elements, than shooter elements. No-one is stating Zelda as 3rd person swordfighting.

 I'm not really sure where I said it wasn't a FPA....

And Legend & Gballzack...let's drop it, k?  I'm almost willing to lock this topic because Metroid and Halo are totally different, and it's pretty much agreed that you can like one or the other, or both, and there's really no grounds for arguments.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Computer games have been strong and around since around 1980, that's 27 years...

And I can't see how computer games have been influenced by console games. I'm curious could you name some of today's computer games that were influenced by Nintendo.

 If we count C64 out, Doom was the first "big" computer game, and the way i see it, after that computer gaming has been gaining popularity.

I didn't mean any certain games being influenced by Nintendo games. Generally computer games have had influence from consoles, and of course vice versa, but mostly the games owned by PC have been RTS:s and FPS:s. All the others have been owned by consoles. Think multiplatform (PC->console, console->PC) titles, some of these make new standards for a platform, which haven't had a certain genre before, or someone gets an idea of making a game in new genre to different platform, because it has been successfull in another platform. Every (new) big game has influence to gaming industry, no matter what the platform is.

@BenKenobi

Oh, you didn't say that it wouldn't be FPA, but if i recall, you said it being different from other FPS:s, and that Zelda thing wasn't meant for you. It was generally for people, who would start to argue about it. :) I just misplaced it.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

Good to see that every fanboy on the forum found this thread and decided to square off against each other. I want my five minutes back.

And how would showing a direct connection between any modern computer game and Nintendo prove or disprove the claim that Video Game consoles as a whole have sustained and affected the PC market? Games don't have to be rip off to be affected by other markets or their own. When I'm making the argument that the connections are grass root at best, I fail to see how you expect such a superficial challenge to mean anything other than to illustrate your attempt to stall a debate of which you've all but run into a brickwall. Apparently you were under the impression that I said all PC games were copies of Console games, and not that I was implying the PC market has been shown it can go further by what the Console market has done. Its no small bet either that most gamers started on Consoles and moved to PCs as well especially in the days when not every household had a PC either so sufice to say PC gaming would have all but stagnated without Console gaming to at least provide it with gamers and to a greater degree one could even claim PC gaming has been pushed on by Console gaming's innovations. As we see no real difference between PC and Console games today, how you ever came to the deduction the two weren't related is beyond me. The fact of the matter remains you're just desperately trying to make whatever thinly veiled argument you can to save you butt in what has become quite an embarassing display of your fanboyism.
