Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Final Fantasy XV On 3DS For Japan - Any Reason Not To?

Keep up guys. Streaming Square-Enix is already on the 3DS, Dragon Quest X for 3DS is 100% streamed to the 3DS (there isn't even a cartridge inside the box, just a voucher):

Final Fantasy XIII will also be coming to smartphones soon in Japan in the same way.

Every system can stream games to it, just like any system can run Netflix movies.

Oh! That's valuable info for your argument.
However, I still think that's really not gonna happen. They will stick with PS4/Xone and maybe a PC version someday on the future.

What? I mean... What? You serious? I think you're toooo far away from reality, dude. 3DS/New 3DS doesn't have game streaming like Vita and 3DS hardware can't handle FFXV, not even in dreams.

DQX says hi

How would streaming work on the N3DS?

I wonder that as well.

If streaming can work, I think KHIII might be a better idea/possibly be easier to stream to the N3DS.

Nothing is "easier" to stream, that's kind of silly. It's like saying I think Netflix stream Pixar movies on 3DS but not Avatar or live action movies like the Avengers. Streaming is streaming, it doesn't matter what the video signal is.

We must not speak of the forbidden one..

Depends, I believe DQX is selling faster on the 3DS than S-E anticipated, so it shows that plenty of people are willing to buy streaming games on the 3DS in Japan. It probably is making them think "wait a second ...".

From your point of vision, there's a chance. Square is trying to expand the userbase to every possible device. FF Agito+ coming to Vita, in addition to iOS and Android versions, Type-0 HD on PS4/Xone and FF XIII on PCs/smartphones.

I would like to know more about gaming streaming, how it works. A game so beautiful as FF XV would need a very good connection, right?

However... PS4 sales will be great on Japan, VERY GREAT. We just need to wait Dragon Quest Heroes and cia to see the results. That's why I don't think there's a reason to invest on servers just to stream FFXV for Japan... FFXV is not a niche game like DQX, they want global success, and PS Now/other streamers are not successful right now for being pricey.

I think Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy are pretty different examples, with different audiences that really only overlap in Japan (for the most part). Final Fantasy sells well overseas, which is going to prefer a cinematic type experience on a console. I also think it's easier to pull off toon/anime aesthetic on a handheld. I don't know the specifics of how DQX runs on the 3DS, but I'm guessing there were some sacrifices made to the overall presentation. This would be a lot more noticable with photo-realistic type graphics.

That being said, I feel like it's a better idea to keep the two franchises on the seperate platforms, to better foster a loyal fanbase while still keeping all sides happy (and maximizing sales for both). Same with Atlus, and SMT and Persona. Though I suppose that's a bit off-topic.

Ah, ok.

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Me!

They would need a veritable fuckton of servers to stream ffxv anywhere close to its current resolution. On the servers they have now it would probably look like ffviii on the 3ds.

There are no sacrifices made to DQX because it's not running off the 3DS. It's likely running off some PC rig a few miles away.

There's no "aesthetic" that works better or worse, it's just a video signal.

It's the same thing as Playstation Now, one type of game doesn't look neccessarily any better than any other type of game, just like one type of movie doesn't look better on Netflix than another kind. None of the rendering is done locally.

RPGs in general are probably better for streaming because they aren't as dependant on quick twitch button presses, that's the main issue (input lag). Graphics aren't the issue. You could stream graphics far in advance of even what the PS4 can render natively (Avatar quality or better) to a 3DS (or any other device with a screen and WiFi connection) if you really wanted to.
