Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy 15 Trailer TGS 2014 Tetsuya Nomura steps down! UPDATE: New showcase demo!

Damn, i feel no hype at all, despite how good the trailer looks.

XIII really made me a bitter person toward FF. I will pay attention, but i have no expectations at all.

I honestly have far more faith in KH3 to deliver something great than this, so I for one think it's great that Nomura is just focusing all his attention on that now.

You do realize that everything you sa in that trailer so, and everything of the game made so far, from the character design, story, scenario to combat... is all Nomura right? Him stepping down now is probably because the core of the game is complete and now they are just polishing and adding finishing touches and minigames or side quests.

What you basically said is , I have more faith in Nomura than I do in Nomura. Thank God Nomura has left his biggest Nomura project and is now working on another Nomura project.

Unless what you really meant to say is that you don't think Nomura can handle a project as big as FF.

This looks genuinely awesome...

...But I'm not convinced until I know more about it. After all, we all know how terrible XIII, its spinoffs, and XIV were.

Hey Hey.... XIV:ARR is a big success.

true, but they also had to basically start from scratch and focus all of their energy on it in order to make it work, detracting from the other pojects in the pipeline.  FFXIV may be pretty great, but that doesn't make me hate it less for making me wait the better part of ten years since the last enjoyable FF game (XII)

They had to start from scratch when it went from PS3 to PS4 and it detracted work from other projects, KH3.  So I guess that means its gonna be "pretty great?" :P

while the graphics are very good theres one thing that bothers me..

it does not look like an FF game. I mean where is the fantasy world ? FF looking like a generic real world is not good.

I'm saying I wouldn't be surprised if the game is still FAR from finished, and Nomura is sick of all the drama with it. I sure would be.

I've got to say, I've never been less excited about a Final Fantasy in my life.

Nothing about an RPG following a Japanese boy band appeals to me. At all.

I can put up with a meh story, but the combat looked poor to me killing much of my interest.  I just expect a mediocre game at this point.

So FF meets Xenoblade meets GTAV meets some random teens from Shibuya. Like Japanese people said when the first trailer was released... Where is the Fantasy...?

Simply, that mix of current era cars and current era fashion with epic fantasy does not fit well. As with Destiny, I can see how people is getting over hyped because of the nice graphics and animations, while completely ignoring that the awkward choice of putting two different eras together plus, as benao87 said, generic current day Japanese teens with generic current era dialogues and concerns can very well ruin the atmosphere of the game.

So... For now, pretty nice visuals, but poor characters and setting. Not really interested (In fact, I'm starting to think that both Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles X are the true spiritual successors of the Final Fantasy universe, epic stories and feelin'...)

Well, i think it is not different from Final Fantasy VIII, one of the best of all time.

I've read like 5 words of what you wrote, then the last paragraph...

Called it as soon as I saw your avatar.
