You know that split is an awful lot closer than I expected. Good for you X1, goes to show exclusive advertising means relatively little.

True. It moves some console bundles, just like in Madden's case, but it just proves what I've been saying all along: Gamers are much more educated about their potential purchases than people give them credit.

exclusive marketing is more about growing mind share and awarness for the platform. if every game had xbox one after its trailer then the awarness and mind share would be much stronger for xbox one.

sony and ms are marketing their consoles through these games, so its effect isnt massive once these games drop. its a continues process to grab mind share. so the result isnt a huge spike at once. bundles do help though.

XB1 looks pretty strong in UK.

My 8th gen collection

PS3 gamers have moved on quickly judging by that 4%, although that is to be expected as people were more satisfied with the 360.

I have a feeling the gap between PS4 and X1 versions will grow over time like Watchdogs.

As for whether or not the excluive marketing helped, I think we should wait for hardware numbers for that one, especially from the US.

OP updated with official individual, all formats charts.

VGC console ratio PS4:XB1 1.5:1

Destiny ratio PS4:XB1 1.27:1

Along with the recent information on total software and the resultant tie ratio's, means that either ONE owners buy far more software or the ONE is undertracked. Probably the former, for now.

Or C) PS4 owners buy more games digitally!

It is very interesting that 360 owners are still buying whilst PS3 owners aren't. This clearly indicates that more PS3 owners have jumped to next gen sooner.

Also.

both PS4 and XB1 are pretty much spot on when it comes to official numbers. 20k~ or so off mark.

@bolded: it only takes a look at sales numbers to realize that. also, 360 sold 3m more than PS3 in the UK.

Highly unlikely.

Dont forget that this counts bundles for Destiny too.

Why would it be highly unlikely? It seems to me very likely, as PS users are used to download games monthly because of PS+. It seems like a very valid reason for the narrower gap than expected.

Can you show me the offical number for Xbox One from either the official tracker or MS?  I haven't seen that.

PS4 a bit over tracked. by 20k~ or something. xb1 its hard to say whether its under or over, because we know just the ratio with PS4. but its in the same ballpark.

OT.  Alos, dont forget that this counts bundles for Destiny too.

That works both ways. X1 + Destiny was 349 everywhere. Game even had Halo: MCC with it for the same. Amazon had £35 Destiny Expansion DLC with it.

Seems like a good thing for PS4 as people often buy what their friends already own and switching console brands each gen seems like common practice for British and American gamers.
