How many in this thread, (or on vgchartz in general), really "hate" transgender people? Barely anyone? And those people are just stupid in general, anyways? Okay, good.

Why is there such a giant need for transgenders to wave this huge flag around with the words "WATCH OUT PEOPLE, I'M TRANSGENDER! LOOK HERE, LOOK! RESPECT ME FOR WHO I AM!! I AM SOOOO DIFFERENT!!"

*sigh*

You're people. Just like the rest of us. Do you see any of us waving around flags? No? Then why should you do it?

Stop making such a big deal out of it. Its not! You're creating problems where there were none... Just stop it...

Saying this is about human rights is bullshit.

"This thread has shown me that this is actually quite a big problem in many people's eyes. Look at the hate and anger in the thread, it disgusts me." -Ninsect

You created that anger and hate with your bad OP. Congratulations...?
If you had presented this differently, then there'd be like (magic prediction-power) 30 posts total, 27 would agree with you, and 3 would be neutral.

I like this post. It's true trans-gender people get discriminated against quite a bit, but bringing up a non-issue as a so called discriminatory act against them? Doesn't help their cause.

Both of you are pretty much showing your privilege in not seeing how this could be an issue for some.  How else are you going to know if something is an issue untill someone brings it to your attention? But if anything this thread has put to light a lot of ignorance towards trans issues that is on this site. Which to me, again, has to do with confusion to what gender and sex mean and how they differ.

To be fair though the OP does make assumptions about this site because of the lack of a feature. I am pretty sure it wasn't put in place to purposefully discriminate against transgendered persons.

Transsexuals didn't exist during those times, spurgey!

EDIT: I know you were probably joking with that part, but I just felt like pointing that out!

Can you be sure about that though?

According to Google, the world's first transsexual man, Michael Dillon, was born in 1915!

No offense man, but if these are the kinds of things you spend your time worried about, you may want to, I don't know, go outside for a bit and get some fresh air

Confusing sexuality exists since Ancient Greece. I'm pretty sure someone (actually, more than one) through history cross-dressed because he felt like a man/woman instead of his own sex.

That's a travestite, not a transsexual..

That would be using modern terminology, but back then it wouldn't have a name. I'm not saying these people were trannies, but rather, people with conflicted sexuality that saw themselves more fitting in a different sex.

In all seriousness I don't think such an option would be a good idea. It would mostly be used by trolls and get abused like crazy. For those that genuinly feel the need to change the gender in their profiles, having the option to contact an admin about it would be much better.

Wow, 300+ replies for this thread?! Never knew this was such a big issue!

biologically speaking, If you are born with male gender parts, you are generally considered male and this can be important for medical professionals or on an olympic application form. But VGchartz is neither...

Like it or not, VGC is a form of social media because of its internet forums. Its important to some to define who they are online. a profile/avatar/signature is almost like the clothes you wear, it shows who you are, your interests and what type of person you may be. It defines the person. Having the option to change how you define yourself is important.

and for freak sake a person can change their DOB but cant change their sex? how does that make any sense
