my ds light and dolphin is enough to get my nitendofix, especially since they are not releasing that many "new" titles

They are release a lot of new stuff, and if you mean it's not innovate or new enough for you it's a lot more than it was in the gamecube/wii days. More towards wii.

I know this won't stop anyone, but it's still illegal.

i don´t know about your country, but emulators are legal here and by new i mean something with a different experience, not another mario kart

Splatoon's coming out soon. As far as new IP's go, that's more than we got half the life of the gamecube and the whole life of the wii(excluding the Wii titles, which really aren't games). Have you never played more than one game in a series. Games in one series can differ from each other a lot.

edit- not trying to defend mariokart, that's not different, but a lot are.

It's always strange to me how some people get upset over what other people like to play and feel the need to make up disparaging "reasons" why those people enjoy what they enjoy.

Personally, Nintendo doesn't make a lot of games that appeal to me and, believe me, I've long ago stopped worrying about what the "cool kids" are playing. I play what I like because it's what I like, not because I'm trying to fit in with anyone else. Even before the PS1 launched, I was starting to lose interest in what the SNES had to offer, though I oddly still thought of myself as a Nintendo fan.

I grew up with reading novels as my primary hobby. I like complex and interesting characters, gripping storylines, and engaging world-building. I like to have my imagination stimulated, not just my reflexes. That isn't all that I like, of course, but I do enjoy those elements and Nintendo games rarely venture down those paths.

I also got my fill of platformers during the NES and SNES eras, which obviously makes Nintendo less important to me than to those who love that genre.

As for Nintendo titles that do make me want a Nintendo console, Fire Emblem, Zelda, and Metroid are at the forefront. The DS/3DS has plenty of 3rd party games that I also want to play. I was looking closely at the Wii for awhile, as it had a solid amount of RPGs, but Skyward Sword really turned me off. I'm much more hopeful about Zelda U.

A lot of people do play games because they are considered cool. Either that or they haven't even played other games and don't know that they would like them.

I agree that Nintendo is not very story driven, but the worlds? I don't see how nintendo doesn't have imaginitive worlds. I think that boils down even further to opinion. They sometimes aren't very connected, but hardly makes them unimiganitive.

splatoon looks really cool, i´m just not sure if it´s a game that i would play a lot or just once and then go back to other mp´s, but outside of that there is not really much, since i don´t like jrpg´s

Gaming for me wouldnt be the same without Nintendo games. 2015 needs to hurry up and get here because I have a ton of games to buy :D

I didn't think there were even that many jrpg's, but okay.

Zelda. That's about it as far as I'm concerned, and even that's fallen below the level of anticipation after the last few I've played.

My reason for not caring much about Nintendo IP is that they simply don't make the kind of games I like. There's not often a whole lot of depth or complexity, so while I can play them and have a lot of fun, I don't keep playing them.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

I thought I would like LoZ, I wanted to like LoZ, then I played OoT 3DS and thought wtf!?! Why do people think this very ordinary game is the best game evah? Perhaps something was lost in translation and I would have actually liked it if I'd played it on GC.

LoZ was the only Nintendo franchise that really interested me and now not even that interests me.

It was on the N64, not Gamecube. I'm not exactly sure how you find it more ordinary than other games. I played on 3ds. It's not my favorite game ever, but it's definitely up there.

OK, point is it was originally on a console I never owned.

Perhaps it was because all the major hype around it being the best game of all time and topping many "100 best games of all time" lists. So when my son got 3DS I was really really excited to finally play this greatest ever game to grace any video game platform ever.

I gave the game a decent enough number of hours to impress me but there was nothing, nothing at all about it that I found engaging or entertaining. It wasn't bad, it was simply ordinary. My son loved it, so it was a worthwhile purchase, just no for me.

Pokemon is the only Nintendo game that actually drew me in, odd because I can't for the life of me figure out why kept wanting to play it. Unfortunately for Nintendo they made the game (Diamond I think) impossible to have 2 game saves on one cartridge. So basically because my son had his own game going, all I could do is basically play the game for a short time but not actually have a game save of my own. Which means once I put it down I had no desire to pick it up again. Nintendo's own form of DRM, but this time it's GRM within the family, as opposed to preventing used game sales, weird. I've had my Pokemon experience, became weirdly addicted for a brief period, and now I'm over it.
