Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Spencer confirms: Tomb Raider deal "has a duration" (also cross gen)

If Spencer has declined to confirm how long that duration is set for, it seems that Rise of the Tomb Raider won´t be on PS4 in this generation.

What? Lol, how do you even come to that conclusion?

As you told Starcraft, based on your own personal and intimate knowledge of the deal

Kyliedog is correct. Phil very carefully specifies that he is discussing the IP only. The 'deal' could very well be the duration before any Tomb Raider IP of substance can appear on other platforms - meaning its entirely feasible that this Tomb Raider game will skip the PS4 and PC altogether.

Eh, that's what Phil himself said. It's not that hard to figure out if you apply some reading comprehension. Whether it's about only this game or the "IP of substance" is highly irrelevant, because the deal has a duration. I can't believe some people still think it could not be timed...

I can already prove you wrong, because they are working on a Tomb Raider game for PS4 and PC, mentioned by Crystal Dynamics themselves. AND like I said, unless you believe the duration is more than 2 years, rise of the tomb raider WILL come to other platforms.  It will be a late port, but it will be extra millions of sales for Square Enix. Do you think they'd just skip this game and release the next one on other platforms? That would be stupid.

Yes, because of some vague wording we are to believe that this game is fully exclusive to XOne, as some here still try to spin.

Of course, they (MS or SE) could have been honest and admitted it's fully exclusive, like, for example:

- CAPCOM : http://www.totalxbox.com/60879/dead-rising-3-definitely-isnt-a-timed-exclusive-for-xbox-one-says-capcom/

Dead Rising 3 "definitely isn't a timed exclusive" for Xbox One, says Capcom

"We see a lot of this online. It's not coming to PS4 or PC."

Yeah and even when they say "it isn't timed" there's still a good chance that it is (like Ryse and DR3)

I think that where I consider the word 'prove' to mean 'provide incontrovertible evidence,' you define it more as 'speculate wildly in accordance with a predefined agenda.'

If ROTTR was fully exclusive, they'd have mentioned it clearly and concisely. Unless they've hired a bunch of poop flinging chimps to handle their Marketing Communications, that is. How is this not common sense?

Starcraft any chance you would want to make a bet for sig control regarding whether or not ROTR will come to ps4 and PC? ^.^

I'll be so bold as to say it is guaranteed to be on PC because that won't have strings attached. Sony will want to extract a pound of flesh from SE for it to go on PS4 so SE will have pros and cons to weigh up. But I don't there is any credibility to the assertion that MS has a hold over the game beyond 12 months after launch, and it could be as brief as 31 Dec 2015.

I do not believe Sony can extract anything from SE to bring TR to the PS4.  SE already have publishing contracts with Sony and I am sure that will be enough to bring the game to the platform.  If anything, the it takes 6months to a year to get on the PS platform, then it will be up to SE to provide some incentives to get PS gamers to purchase the game more than anything else.

Shouldve made it clear in the first place.stupid mfs

And you can confirm that said publishing contract does not have a clause in it which says "if you put a late port on PS then you have to put in a no cost sweetener and not just release the same exact product that was launched earlier on the first platform" or words to that effect?
