Forums - Gaming Discussion - Epitome and fall of you fanboyism moment

When I was in high school I told my friend to get a 360 and instead he got a PS3.

@brendude13 there's a big difference. You can talk about a game being cool, its up to other person if they want the game or not, you don't need to constantly talk about the same stuff to make him change his opinipn.
If someone is happy with DRM then let him be, no need for me to change his mind.

We're not 5 years old, we don't make people change their opinions. If our opinion has changed, then it is usually for a good reason. I highly doubt anybody is happy with DRM, either they know about it or they don't. If I told them about the DRM, that's not bullying them into changing their minds, that's helping them make an informed decision.

I was a Nintendo fanboy up until the N64. I HATED Sega. I even sent pics of Mario dressed like Ryu doing a dragon-punch to Sonic the Hedgehog to Electronic Gaming Monthly. I sent another of Mario running over Sonic with his go kart with a bubble saying "Blast processing won't save you now". When I played my friend's PS1 (1996), I didn't care which console I gamed on. I just wanted good games. I bought my own PS1 in early 1997. And, in 2001, when I couldn't get a launch PS2 after months of trying, I bought a Dreamcast. Turned out, Sega wasn't so bad, either.

Been a lover of all consoles, ever since.

Fail:  Convinced a girl I was dating to get a Wii U.  We broke up last November.  She started texting me again back in June or something.  I told her I had a free game to give her (Mario Kart 8 code).  Found out that she bought the original Wii instead.  I am so sorry!

Epitome:

I got one of my fellow students into Kirby games.

Big failure:

Nobody else likes anything game related except Need for Speed, GTA, and FIFA...

This is a very wierd thread. In this thread I am going to discuss the extend you showed your fanboyism to a certain brand or company. It can be anything.

So why wait. Here is mine.

Epitome:

I have successfully converted "many" of my die hard Xbox 360 fans into PS4 owners. Among these there is a friend who is a super halo fan. He idolizes master chief. But I struck their fanboyism with DRM issue and games. He was very impressed how PS3 pumped out good games even at the end of its life cycle. He now regrets after seeing master chief collection. But the last of us remastered has reduced his grief a little bit. He plans to get Xbox One next year though.

But many friends are still in pipeline. These guys wont buy a new system unless there are many good games in it. There is a good chance that many of these guys will be getting PS4. Thanks to me and my PS4 "priest" team (aka friends). Lol.

Big failure:

One of my friend is a forza fan. When he was in Bangladesh I told him to get PS3 a lot of times. He was somehow reluctant. But later he said he will get one. Last year he went to USA with green card and purchased PS3 from gamestop. I told him to get PS4. But thanks to Evolution studios delay and gamestop emplyees pushing he took Xbox One with Forza 5. Curse you guys.

So what about you guys?

PS: The purpose of this thread is not to mock anyone. But to share funny experiences. I want to see how people showed their love to a certain brand through their actions.

Ummmm. I just encourage my friends to get whatever they want that most supports their games they like to play.

I did encourage a friend at work to hold off on purchasing a PS4 at launch due to a lack of games on the system at the time and to save his money till it drops in price and has more offerings with games(he tends to be a very spontaneous shopper). He actually listened and hasn't regretted his decision, he actually said he would be pissed if he had spent the money with the offerings it has had so far. He might change his mind this holiday though, never know. He was also unaware of the PS+ subscription that is a necessity for online gaming and that pissed him off as well.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

One of my friends used to be kinda bitter regarding the WiiU and Nintendo in general.. He used to say that Ninty franchises are all boring and that they suck.. I played some MK8, Nintendo Land and 3D World with him and guess what? He changed his mind regarding Ninty and he might get a WiiU in December!

I don't think I've actively pushed someone to buy a console, I usually just answer questions people might have truthfully. For instance, one Christmas I brought my Xbox 360 with Dance Central and it made quite a sensation in my family.  When my aunt asked if the game was available on the Wii (because they already had a Wii at home), I told her no but that the Just Dance series was a good alternative.

Cant you lie?

That's shameful...

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

A friend of mine wasn't sure whether to get an xbox 360 or a PS3, so I told him that the cell processor in the PS3 is used in super computers (it actually is ). The next day he bought a PS3 XD

One of my friends was a pure PC gamer and I got him to buy a Wii U
