Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will the Wii U sell better in 2015 than it does in 2014?

http://venturebeat.com/2014/07/09/the-wii-u-is-set-to-impress/

As the title says, will it sell more next year than this year?

Caveat: For the purpose of this thread, I'm counting the holidays of 2013 as the start of 2014 and holidays of 2014 as start of 2015.

Yes. Even in 2016.

I think so. It will have a bigger game library and Nintendo seem to reach out more to gamers.

With no price drop absolutely not.

For sure. Mario Kart and SSB will drive a lot of sales this holiday, and then the new zelda next year.

I don't think the price drop is as essential as people clamor about. The machine is already much cheaper than the others and has built up a good library. On top of that the great deals Nintendo keeps throwing at people seems to function as a price drop. Buy Mario Kart 8, get a free game. Buy Bayonetta 2, get a greatly enhanced Bayonetta 1 for free. Bundles everywhere (until they sell out lol).

This price drop talk is stale and kinda stupid.

It all depends on that price drop to $200

Until then, it doesn't matter how many great exclusives games they release, they wont be moving the momentum needle much.

If they can sell the refurbished Nintendo Land bundle on their online store for $200, than why not the MK8 bundle?

If they do reduce price to $200... then I expect all the people that bought Wii for their kids, might be more willing to upgrade their kids to WiiU. Core gamers interested either already got WiiU or wont care what Nintendo does.

Sad times indeed...

Why would Holiday 2014 count as 2015? Makes no sense. For this post, I'm referring to Jan - Dec of each year.

I think 2015 > 2014 easily. It will have much more momentum going in, will have more frequent games, and will have a likely price cut.

Yes because Zelda.
