i'm not even going to watch it and predict the break down doesn't include a case, power supply, cooling fan, (legal) operating system, keyboard, or mouse. you know,.. all those essential non-essentials.

am i right?

Wrong (other than the OS, I think)

really?!? well that's a first, every one of these i've ever seen starts with the assumption you have a massive box of spare computer parts lying around the house.

OS will set you back another $100 though so that brings this to $650.

Pretty generic OP, 1080p 60fps with what graphical options enabled???

You don't need a 500$ rig to play 1080p 60fps with minimal graphical settings...

PS4 would melt to try & run BF3/BF4(I regret it so much)/Crysis2/Crysis3 @ 1080P 60-80fps on highest graphical settings like my PC, of course I paid 1250€,  2 years ago, but still, for a 2 y-old rig, I play pretty much any game on max settings, wich the PS4 is way off...

You're PC costs 3 times that of a PS4 and performs let's say 50% better.

I think you missed the part where I said that I paid 1250€ 2 years ago, now you can build a PC like mine for about 800/900€, it's still more expensive than a PS4 but I can do a whole lot more with it than you can do with a PS4!

& 1 last thing , I can assure that my PC performs a little bit more than 50% better than a PS4, on benchmarks my GPU has more than double the performance than PS4 GPU & my K i7 smokes ps4 CPU. I have more/faster RAM too so from I've seen, I'd say that I'm between 100/150% better performance over the PS4. On top of that you have to add the on-line cost of PS+, 60€/year, so for the 4 years I keep my PC where playing on-line is free, you pay 240€ to play on-line, so now your PS4 is costing you 640€ to do less stuff than my PC. Also don't forget that I get the better versions on PC with mods & community add-ons & I get to play FPS with mouse+keyboard...

PS4 is 400 since last november, and can do 1080p/60fps, so...

There's nothing I can really say to this. I just want to highlight that someone somewhere can actually post something like this in a thread like this.

Nothing wrong with what I said, it's pointless to build a PC 25% more expensive than a PS4 that will be useless in like 2 years and a PS4 will endure at least 5-6 years.
People would better invest a little more into building a PC to game. But nothing wrong with doing this either, I just don't see any good point in it.

My PC becomes pointless in 2 years why? I spent $600 and everything I play looks fine to me. My last PC didn't cost much more and I spent 4 years gaming in 1200P.

This is assuming one would play online though.

One can assume plenty of things or not, but pretty much anyone buying a PS4 is going to play on-line & buy a PS+ account, I know that there are some that won't, but they are a small minority!

True. This PC isn't that good anyway, it'll be outdated in a year. Spend $150-200 for future proofing.

could of been even cheaper if they went to AMD.

How I did it. Bought a preowned used i5 750 with boxed cooler + 8gb DDR3 1600mhz + mainboard +500gb HDD + 680w PSU + case + DVD drive + GTX 275 + internal wireless card for 100€

Bought a Scythe Mugen 3 cooler+fan also preowned (but mint condition) for 22€ to replace the stock cooler of the Intel.

Bought a 128gb sandisk SSD new for 42€

Bought a EOL (end of life) Sapphire 7870XT (Tahiti LE which is basically a 7930) for 114€    (a 7850 would have been 70€)

oced GPU and CPU

= 278€ / $373

Also bought additional 8GB of new DDR3 1600mhz Ram for 42€ / $56 (had to look for a good deal) but its still sealed because no game needs it yet.

= 320€ / $429

Well also bought a rapoo(thats the brand)  wireless keyboard and mouse bundle for 12€ / $16 (still more precise in everything than any controller)

= 332€ / $445

So I got a complete PC for a total of $445 (VAT is already included)  compare that to a 400€ PS4 that costs $537 in Europe.

I generally do a "full upgrade" every 3-4 years.  That doesn't include stuff like computer case, monitor, hard drives, and other peripherals.  Just the basics like vid card, RAM, mobo, and processor. And possibly power supply. I usually go a couple steps down from "top of the line" so it ends up costing me 1000-1200 every 3-4 years. And that's Canadian dollars, for what it's worth.

I'm surprised you have to do much of anything with the RAM. It hasn't had any significant gains or changes in years now.

Yeah, this will probably be the first time I don't touch RAM.  I have 16GB DDR3 currently (up from 2GB the previous build).  I knew it was overkill at the time, but RAM was cheap as hell. It'll do me for a few years.

If you got decent clock speeds, you'll be set for a long, long time.

No. Just no.

you can buy the ps4 gpu eqivalent for 200, and if you looked into apus (like a ps4) you would find its equivalent there aswell.

Why wouldnt a pc thats about 500 witht the equivalent gpu of a ps4 last as long as a ps4? Most pc games use the same api as consoles and are being optomised continuously aswell.

have you ever looked into pcs? a crappy surface pro for 700 can run titanfall. you think a dedicated machine wont?

its like you got all this preconception from a forum and never once tried doing anything you talk about once (or even research it, go watch linus tech tips they have a video up showing a 5-6 year old gpu getting equivelent performance as an xbox one). So take it from someone who builds pcs for a living: you're so wrong.
