TopCat8 said: Lol. Minecraft is definitely an open-world sandbox game. Also, I think GTA and RDR fail pretty hard as open-world sandbox games. They Feel very linear compared to the games I mentioned. |
If you didn't notice, Minecraft does not have side-missons or feature a pre-built sandbox environment like the other ones you've mentioned.
Its more of an LBP-style game but with a fully-featured sandbox environment. It isn't open-world.

2. Assassins Creed IV Black Flag
3. Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
My favourite genre by far. Also I really look forward to Homefront the Revolution

Open world games with an abundance of side quests are not at all sandbox games. This is an appropriation of a term to describe completely different type of game.
The games mentioned in the poll are merely open world games, not sandbox games.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
Infamous 2 and Scarface the World is Yours.

*edit*
I didn't think of Yakuza 4 because it's not traditional open world, but add that one too.
Seriously? You didn't put Minecraft in the poll? Come on man. It's the ultimate open world sandbox game! Infinitely open, infinitely sandbox.
Playing through RDR right now and I really don't see where all of the praise comes from...anybody care to explain?
