Times change, in the 90s nothing would have happened, yellow at most. Now, refs and FIFA don't like any involvement of head to head 'violence'. Sadly this was. Eitherway, players shouldn't do it ever, play acting from Muller or not (which would be laughed at in the UK).

I agree, I wouldn't call it a headbutt but its the rules of football. Any deliberate clashing of heads, no matter what the power, is a headbutt. That has to be a red by the rules, but if it was up to me I would give a yellow.

Its not like US or Ghana are tough opponents though.

I have to disagree. I didn't like Müller's theatrics after the first hit but he was certainly not "digging" for a red. Yes, the red was harsh and absolutely not necessary. But know what else wasn't necessary? The antics of Pepe. I this case it doesn't matter how hard the contact was, but that he actively engaged in it, which is wrong by default.
