If Nintendo hardware sells or not, no. Nintendo is kinda doing the right thing now. Instead of funding developers for games, they should be their own 1st-2nd-3rd party and just get bigger. They already has some of the best franchises in gaming.

Yes they do, but really none of their franchises are games most people would want to play everyday. I bought a Wii U for a few Nintendo games I really enjoy but I would never choose them over my PS4 or gaming PC obviously different people have different opinions but Nintendo absolutely needs 3rd party devs if they ever want to compete in terms of hardware sells

Also the fact I am still waiting for an original Zelda for the Wii U is pretty bad.....

"Yes they do, but really none of their franchises are games most people would want to play everyday".  Am I the only one that think it's something wrong with that statement.

I think he means that no console can survivor on 1st party alone. There's far too many gaps and droughts. 3rd party support keeps a steady stream games coming to PS4 and XBO. Sure Donkey Kong is fun but are you going to be playing that for 3 months straight until Mario Kart comes out?

I think you're asking the wrong person that question.

It was a rhetorical question.

What do you think Nintendo owners do?  The answer is yes.  It also saves us money.

What's your opinion on ZombiU, and to a lesser extent W101 and Lego City Stories,  by the way?

As for effects we would see, what are you refering to (the topic is a hypothetical, I'm not sure how we'd see the effects on something that hasn't happened)?

I think they have terrible sales. its quite jarring. Especially since 2 of those games had bundles, how much less would they have sold without it i wonder. Esepcially in the case of Lego where the much inferior and much less advertised 3ds version sold more.

Even if they some how come back, it wont make much of a difference. I thought at first thats all they needed. But lets look at last years COD and AC games. THey sold terrible on Wii U but great on PS4 and One. Which is kinda sad since those were launch consoles with pratically no userbase. Hell you cant even say there wasnt an established base on Wii U since it had previous versions of those series. I would be surprised if they can even catch AC3 or CODBLOPS2 numbers.

At first you said it was unlikely Nintendo would get exclusives for the U, do you still think that, after being reminded Zombi U and Lego City Stories came out for it already. Or do you think their sales were so terrible that it won't happen again?

What do the multiplats explain about exclusives though, that there is no market for Nintendo exclusives?  Do you believe that there is a genre that can do well on the U that isn't either violent or a party game?

Thats exactly what im saying to answer your first question.

As for the 2nd and 3rd? IMHO yes and no. Yes there is a market but it would have to be a modest game, modestly budgeted i mean to say. IMO the WIi U userbase is too small for 3rd parties to jump in and start making exclusives.  I think the genres that do well are the ones that NInty make, but the thing is even if 3rd parties tried to replicate that they wont gain much because why not just buy the actual Ninty game? Hell its not even like 3rd parties are making the same types of games Ninty are making in the first place. And the they ones they have been making have done mediocore to terrible.

hmm, there's a reason why 3rd party is weak on every Nintendo consoles: people don't buy third party games. Simple as that. Nintendo fans aren't hyped for the next big shooter game, they are hyped for the next 1st party title (or colab), it has become an habit. And since there's no money to be made for 3rd parties, even if the U had 100M hardware sales, they just won't develop for it.
