Forums - Sales Discussion - PS Vita under 3.4k in the US for the month of April

both handhelds are dying.. PS vita is barely even relevant.. the 3DS is down by a monstrous number compared to last year... everywhere.. tablet sales are skyrocketing every year.. and it'll continue...... as they become cheaper and more accessable to the GP

While the 3DS's performance has being largely underwhelming it doesn't compare to how the vita is being absolutely massacred in this regard ...

I really have to wonder how many minutes Sony will give to the Vita at E3 this year. Can they really undershoot the pitiful amount of time they gave it last year? Signs point to yes.

Sucks considering the revival of Japanese support.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

3DS is pretty much a flop compared to it's predecessor too..

Tablets and smartphones are destroying the handheld gaming market for sony and nintendo, and unfortunately for nintendo.. they are barely surviving with the Wii u

And unfortunately for Sony they are barely surviving, period.

Sony mobile and playstation are doing way better than ever before.. at the moment.. the rest of the company is half dead and is sucking the life out of those two divisions.. hence why the xperia brand is almost nothing in the U.S..... since they prob don't have funds to push it hard enough yet

didn't they just post a loss in game section. I could have sweared i saw that somewhere.

Yeah. "Playstation is down 45% compared to where it was 6 years ago" or something like that. I was looking for it, but couldn't find it.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

lol Sony

rofl Sony fanboys on 'supply constraints' on system that no one buys, so much denial and delusional.

I loled, Mobile division had its Japanese monopoly eradicated since Japan's largest carrier is now bringing the iPhone to it's network to replace Sony as it's main brand of phones. Meanwhile Samsung's took 2nd place in the Japan mobile market as well and knocked Sony into third in the first quarter of 2014.

Rev up those $1.3 billion LOSSES because there is a another one coming next year, to continue the decade long slide.

2009 - US$1.05 Billion LOSS

2010 - US$0.441  Billion LOSS

2011 -  US$3.2  Billion LOSS

2012 -  US$5.7  Billion LOSS

2013 -  US$0.43 Billion profit (Sold main HQs for Billions)

2014 -  US$1.30 Billion LOSS

Sony losses have been so server and gone of for so long their debt is crippling they cant even afford the interest on it. Its over, its just a matter of how Sony gets broken up and sold so investors dont lose everything.

You seem to be the bringer of bad news.

Sony fucked up big time with the Vita.  They had a lot going with the PSP but couldn't follow through with the Vita.  It seems like they pretty much gave up on handhelds in favor of home console system.  I see the PS4 as the lone semi bright spot left on a troubled company.

While Vita sales are already bad in US, it's not that bad when you can buy it so saying it is dead now because it reach 3,4k is...Silly? It would be more honest to clarify that in the thread, they stopped the shipments to kill the first model and introduce the Vita 2000.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

That is...so much worse than I ever expected. It's to the point now where, sadly, it's laughably poor and that's not deserved for such a great system. I know people will shout "Supply!" and maybe there's a little to do with the Vita re-release out there, but I'm not buying it. Sales will increase but not due to pent up demand.

I believe someone earlier summed it up perfectly. The Vita doesn't deserve to fail, but with the way Sony treats it, they can't expect anything else.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

It's kind of sad, coming off the PSP the Vita had a lot of potential, it's just a shame it's not working out here.
